Charlotte Louise Everson

Charlotte Louise (LaHaie) Everson, age 91, of St. Ignace, Michigan, passed away on April 12, 2023, at Evergreen Living Center. She was born in Cheboygan, Michigan on June 30, 1931, to Edward and Mary (McKervey) LaHaie. Charlotte grew up between Cheboygan and St. Ignace and graduated from the Ursuline Academy in St. Ignace in 1950. She married Howard Francis Everson on January 20, 1951, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, in St. Ignace. They were happily married for 66 years. Together, they owned and operated The Stop Party Store, a local favorite, and the Sunset Motel for many years. After retirement, they enjoyed spending their winters in Englewood, Florida. Charlotte was a member of the Moose Lodge #999, the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, and the St. Anne’s Alter Society. She also was a beloved Cub Scout leader. Charlotte was a devout and faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church her entire life. She loved playing cards, bowling, and bird watching, and was always on the lookout for cardinals. She also was the sweetest lady with a smile for everyone. She was a friend to all and kept her house open to anyone. She never passed a baby she didn’t want to snuggle. Her family was her pride and joy, and she celebrated every one of them. Charlotte is survived by her children, Peter (Kathy) Everson, Nina (Charles) Litzner, daughter-in-law Young-Ah Everson, Linda (Michael) Wheelock, James (Kyle) Everson, Diana (Mark) Labadie, Jean (Keith) Massaway, Robert (Christopher) Broomfield-Everson; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lois Marshall of Marquette, Michigan. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary; husband, Howard F. Everson; son, Gary; infant son, William; siblings, Larry (Mary) LaHaie, Betty (Ken) Clare, and her twin sister Shirley (Ted) Latva. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace, Michigan, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the St. Ignace Moose Lodge. The final resting place will be at Gros Cap Cemetery, in Moran Twp, Michigan.
