Elizabeth Ann Quinnell

Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Quinnell, age 78, of Pickford, Michigan, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 21, 1936, in Pickford, to Fredrick Alvin and Ethel Janet (Rye) Wallis. Beth lived in Pickford most of her life and was a member of the Class of 1954 at Pickford High School. Beth married James E. Quinnell, on August 9, 1957 at the Pickford Presbyterian Church. In addition to raising their children, Beth worked in the family businesses, Quinnell Funeral Home and later, the Comfort Inn in Sault Ste. Marie. Beth was an active member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association. Beth was a member of the Munoscong Golf Association in Pickford where she won the Annual Women’s Club Championship twenty times. She also served as Secretary of the Ladies’ Golf League at Munoscong for many years. Beth was very athletic. In addition to being an excellent golfer, she also enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, and water skiing. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and watching Detroit Tiger games. She loved time she spent at the family cottage on the lake in Hessel, Michigan. Beth was a very gracious and thoughtful person who will be greatly missed in the community. Beth is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Pamela (Michael) Zamora of Grand Junction, Colorado; son, Michael (Sandra) Quinnell of Freeland, Michigan; grandchildren, Emily Zamora, Quinn Zamora, Nathan (Elizabeth) Pancheri, Adam (Corrina) Pancheri, Lauren Quinnell, and Ryan Quinnell; and one great grandson, Corbin Pancheri. She is also survived by her sister, Ardith Bawks of Sault Ste. Marie; brother, William (Carol) Wallis of Pickford; sister-in-law, Ginny Wallis of Cadillac, Michigan; and many loving nieces and nephews. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jacqueline Sue Pancheri; brother, Gerald Wallis; and brother-in-law, Dale Bawks. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 5, from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, at 11:30 A.M. at the Pickford Presbyterian Church. Reverend Jessica Paulsen will conduct the service. There will be visitation at the church on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until 11:15 A.M. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
