Kenneth Willis

Kenneth "Dugan" Willis passed away peacefully at his Sugar Island home on Saturday, June 16, 2007. He was born on December 6, 1945 in Wyandotte, Michigan. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, attended Henry Ford Community College, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 38 years of service as a Millwright. Ken is survived by his wife; Cheryl, sons; Kenneth "Rob" (Tanya) Willis of Petersburg, MI and Ronald (Kelly) Willis of Southgate, MI, and five grandchildren; Skylar, Jordyn, Logan, Elijah, and Brooke. He is also survived by his mother; Anna Willis, two brothers; John M. (Jean) Willis and Marvin (Louise) Willis, Jr., both of Sugar Island, MI. Surviving nieces and nephews are; Deborah (Mike) Mickey of Newport, MI, Jackie (Gary) Grudziecki of Brighton, MI, Marvin (Michelle) Willis III and children Nick and Hailey, Eric (Sue) Willis and children Chase and Blake all of Brownstown, MI, John "Mike" Willis and children Alyssa and Lindsey of Bloomfield, MI, Jerrod (Becky) Willis of Southgate, MI, and Amy (Mike) Peterson of Lincoln Park, MI. He was preceded in death by his father; Marvin Willis. Ken was a past president of the Southgate Baseball Association, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and member of the Men's Club in Wyandotte, MI. Until his illness resulted in his being homebound, he was President of the Soo Area Sportsmen's Club, Treasurer of the Sugar Island Lion's Club, Member of the Sugar Island Board of Review, Medical First Responder and driver for the Sugar Island Ambulance Corps, Member of the VFW Post #3676 - Pool League, Soo Coin Pool League, and the Hilltop Players Pool League. He threw horseshoes for the Sault Horseshoe League, and was a member of the American Legion. He attended Rosedale Community Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 PM on Monday, June 18, 2007 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Lon Mohr officiating. Memorials may be left to the Sugar Island Ambulance Corps, Hospice of Chippewa County, Sugar Island Lion's Club, or Rosedale Community Church.
