Margaret N. Proulx

Margaret N. Proulx passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, at her home with her children by her side. She was born on May 5, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where she also met her life partner and husband, Bob, whom she married in September of 1950 at St. Mary's Church. Margaret was a very loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was most happy when her family was gathered together so that she could cook for and feed them. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, needlework, painting and collecting angels. She spent her life honoring God through unselfish service to those in need and volunteering at church, serving on the church auxiliary, the War Memorial Hospital auxiliary, and the St. Joseph Thrift Shoppe. Margaret is survived by her six children: Bob (Suzanne) Proulx of Lake Zurich, IL, Deb Barrett of Sault Ste. Marie, John (Bev) Proulx of Dafter, MI, Nan (Carl) Giacomino of Harwood Heights, IL, Diane (Jeff) Chancey of Dowagiac, MI and Daryl Proulx of Dafter, MI; 16 grandchildren: Jackie (Eric) Block, Jessica (Glenn) Leonardo, Lance and Michael Barrett, Justin (Esther) Proulx, Matt Proulx, Mallory (Paul) Baier, Mackenzie Gimpel, Christine (Mike Sylvestre) Maleport, Nicole (Paul Wood) Maleport, Brandon Giacomino, Christopher (Terra Odbert) Chancey, Sarah (Corey Erny) Chancey, Melissa Chancey, Tyler and Ashley Proulx; and 10 great grandchildren: Kiley, Carter and Tessa Block, Natalie and Colin Leonardo, Elise and Jacob Proulx, Isaac Sylvestre, Nora Baier, and Gordon Goeschel. Also surviving are her brother Michael John (Glenda) Ferraro and sister-in-law Minnie Ferraro, along with many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert, their infant son, Robert, Jr., her parents Michele and Maria Ferraro, and brothers Anthony, James, Carmen and Leo Ferraro. The family expresses their appreciation for the wonderful care provided by Dr. Chander, Dr. Alshab, War Memorial Hospital 2nd floor staff, Fr. Sebastian, and most of all, the Hospice of the EUP. The family is being assisted by the C.S. Mulder Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 1, from 5 - 8 p.m., with prayers at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church on Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Hospice of the EUP.
