Mary "Betty" Link

Mary Link, age 81, of Brimley, Michigan, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Bay Mills Township. Mary was born on June 5, 1931, in Rudyard, Michigan, the daughter of the late Charles and Hilma (Ahola) Hyvarinen. She graduated from Superior High School, which is now called Brimley Area Schools, with the class of 1949. On June 27, 1953, she married Charles S. Link, Jr., in Dafter, Michigan. Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, entertaining, baking, cooking, and hosting family picnics and bonfires in their back yard. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ her Savior and raised her family to love and cherish Him. In later years, her greatest passion was to see her children and grandchildren serving God wholeheartedly and would daily pray over each family member by name. Mary was a member of All Nations Assembly of God. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Charles S. Link, Jr., and their nine children: Diane (Fred) Kelly of Detroit, MI; Patty (Daryl) Hopper of Hulbert, MI; Mike (Janet) Link of Detroit, MI; Debbie (Lee) Freedman of Brimley, MI; Yvette (Keith) Houser of Seattle, WA; Beverly (David) Rehfeld of Sussex, WI; Kristine (Trent) Lawson of Brimley, MI; Marlene (Jason) Shirley of Seattle, WA; and Charlie (Shelley Taylor) Link, III, of Seattle, WA. She is further survived by 32 grandchildren: Janette (Corey) Mantz; Brian (Shauna Lee) Kelly; Fred (Harmony) Kelly, Jr.; David (Megan) Kelly; Dustin (Holly) Hopper; Jason (Laura) Hopper; Ben (Bridget) Hopper; Caleb (Heidi) Hopper; P.J. (Jesse) Jesek; Telisa (Cory) Sikora; Luke Blum and Chris (Carol) Rubright; Brandon, Ashley, Stephanie, and Ryan Freedman; Max, Chase, Austin, Jackson, and Cecily Houser; Joshua, Nikolas, and Lukas Rehfeld; Marissa and Justin Lawson; Roman, Alexis, Zoey, and Judah Shirley; Charlie Link, IV and Wyatt Taylor. She is further survived by 21 great grandchildren: Brayden and Isabella Mantz, Darion Neyland, Peleke, Freddy, III, Kiane, Samual, Aine, Tytus, Trinity, and Trayce Kelly, Haley and Riley Rubright, McKenna, Colin, Kayleigh, Kiara, Hayden, Hunter, and Hadley Hopper, and Ruger Sikora. Mary is also survived by nine siblings: Walter (Ei1a) Hyvarinen, Sylvia Williams, Jacob (JoNell) Hyvarinen, Delores (Jimmy) Grim, Rudy (Darlene) Hyvarinen, John (Alberta) Hyvarinen, Linda (George) Hovi, Robert (Jeanne) Hyvarinen, and Donald (Ila) Hyvarinen; a sister-in-law: Arilla Hyvarinen; and two former sisters-in-law: Joan Crum and Phyllis Karrar. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, Skye Marie Link; a great grandchild, Kerrigan Hopper; a sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Charles Carter; a brother, Wayne Hyvarinen and sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Hyvarinen Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 26, 2012, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Peck and Pastor Rudy Hyvarinen co-officiating. Visitation hours are from 1 PM until 3 PM that same day. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Salvation Army.
