Mildred Louise Kott

Mildred Louise Kott, age 96, of Goetzville, Michigan, died Monday, January 21, 2019, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born September 22, 1922, in Goetzville, to John and Rose (Zobek) Maciag. Mildred lived her entire life in the Goetzville area. She married Joseph August Kott and they raised their family of ten children in Goetzville. The family often included a pet deer or two. Mildred was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and Alter Society in Goetzville, and a life member of the Amvets Auxiliary in Raber. She often volunteered at the Cedar Post Thrift Shop in Cedarville. Mildred enjoyed flowers, both indoors caring for her numerous house plants and outdoors in her flower gardens. She enjoyed sharing the fact that she drove a car her entire life without a driver license. Most of all, she enjoyed visiting with her many friends and family members. Mildred is survived by her children, Mary Ann Plont of Sault Ste. Marie, Buddy (Jeannie) Kott of Morrice, Michigan, Joseph (Monika) Kott of Morrice, Kent (Denise) Kott of Raber, Michigan, Gary (Hallie) Kott of Raber, Michele (Jim) Traynor of Goetzville, and Pam Bosley of Sault Ste. Marie; daughter-in-law, Midge Kott of Morrice; grandchildren, Ricky (Paula) Plont, Rene (Brian) Gintowt, Hollie Plont, Joey (Ivy) Plont, Merri Giapapa, Michael Plont, Erin (Kurt) Cornwell, Gary (Holly) Kott, Janice George, Judy (Brandy) Gabbard, Eddie Kott Jr., Brad Kott, Craig (Ashley) Kott, Johnathan Kott, Brian Kott, Meg Kott, Sarah DeLaFor, Jennifer DeLaFor, Kurt (Stacy) Kott, Kerry Kott, Melanie Bosley, Paige Bosley, Valerie Traynor, Kristina Traynor, Danny (Deb) Traynor, Pam Kott, Ilia Kott, Makayla Kott; great grandchildren, Desierea Plont, Corey Plont, Marrissa Plont, Ashley Tobin, Amber Bucher, Joe Plont, Brianne Plont, Kaitlyn Plont, Trevor Plont, Kyle Skitromo, Brad Skitromo, Haley Cornwell, Kurt Cornwell, Eric Kott, Dakota Kott, Elizabeth Kott, Anthony Kott, C.J. Kott, Kree Kott, Bronx Gehrke, Brooklynn Gehrke, Bellarose Lahti, Emily Traynor, Ethan Kott, and Adain Kott; and many great great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Joseph (Kathy) Maciag of Goetzville, Michael Maciag of Goetzville, Rosemary Opalka of Goetzville, and Josephine Povey of Sault Ste. Marie; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Thomas and Tillie Horton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kott; sons, Edward Kott and James (Debra) Kott; daughter, Jane Kott; granddaughters, Hollie Plont and Marri Giapapa; great granddaughter, Angie Kott; brothers, John Maciag, Albert Maciag, and Peter Maciag; sister, Anna Hank; half-brother, Anthony Pokryfke; and son-in-law, Richard Plont. Services will be held Friday, January 25, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be in the spring in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Goetzville.
