Tilia A. Beukema

Tilia A. "Til" Beukema, 87 of Cedarville passed away peacefully Saturday, August 26 at Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Cedarville surrounded by her family. She was born in Grand Rapids on August 27,1929 to Thomas and Lena (Faber) Damstra.Til graduated from College with a Bachelors Degree, and had an Interior Design business in Grand Rapids some 25 years. Mrs Beukema believed in the importance of giving of herself to the church, and the community in which she lived, and she volunteered in many schools and church related acivities, throughout her life. Her love for the arts included water color, acrilics, oils, and volunteering at museums, boards, and charter memberships in Grand Rapids, Cedarville, and Jensen Beach, Florida. She was a charter member of the LesCheneau Arts Council, and instrumental in the developement of the Historial Museum and LesCheneau Library, workng furvously in the background.She and her husband "Red" lived in Cedarville since 1984, owning the Cedarville R.V. Park for 10 years. They then purchased a home on Island #8, and lived there until his death in 2006, and failing health caused her to seek residence at an assisted living facility in 2015..She was a longtime member of First Union Church in Cedarville. On April 27,1949 she married Roger "Red" Beukema, and he died in 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Marian and Charles Roetman, Caledonia,MI.; 3 sons, Peter and Carol Beukema, Rockford and St.Ignace; Roger Beukema, Cedar Springs; Ross and Deborah Beukema, Cedarville; 1 brother, John L and Nancy Damstra, Holland Mi., and Juno Beach, Florida; a sister, Annette Koetje Grand Rapids;, and a sister in law, Bertha Damstra, Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death besides her husband, 2 brothers, Ferd Damstra and Herman A. Damstra, and a brother in law, Harold Koetje. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5 at First Union Church in Cedarville with Pastor Jeff Meyers officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until service time at the church. Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangement Pallbearers will be grandsons.
