April Montie

April Mae Montie, age 51, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on December 24, 2022, at Henry Ford Hospital. April was born on May 12, 1971, in Newberry, MI the daughter of Edward and Iva (Kabell) Paul. April loved to worship and read her bible. She loved Jesus and wasn't none too shy about it. She loved listening to the promise FM and worshiped and prayed for her friends and family often. She spent time enjoying her life and for leisure time playing at the casino to unwind from work. She loved board games and card games and laughter. She loved to cook and enjoyed food and her family time. Her latest grandson Grayson and son Tyler James lit up her whole world this past Thanksgiving. When they visited for the holiday, her joy returned and her illness disappeared long enough to bring that fabulous smile back to her shining face. April married the love of her life, Kevin Montie on April 9th, 2022. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. All the family, friends. Cousins, & coworkers came to celebrate. They had planned a life together but were only married a short time before cancer swept her away. April is survived by her husband: Kevin Montie; her children: Ashley Nicole Paul and Sean Lee (Jessica) Kirkland both of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Tyler James (Amanda Reid) Kirkland of Corona, CA; her grandchildren: Zelda, Iva, and Eden, Alexander, Lily, Carter Lee Akers, Emmalynn Lee, and Grayson; her mother: Iva Mae Masterson of McMillan, MI; and her siblings: Elizabeth Dorine (Brad) Bollaert of Lapeer, MI, Renee Marie (Bobby) Masterson of McMillan, MI, Sean Crawford Paul of McMillan, MI, and Brenda Sue (David) Juniper of LaPorte, IN. She is also survived by her half-brother: Roger Lee Masterson of Moorehead, KY; her step-siblings: Lee Allen (Wendy) Masterson of Georgetown, KY, Corey James (Angela) Masterson of Stamping Ground, KY, Edward Elwood Masterson of Chipley, FL, and Leatha Geneva Masterson of Gary, IN; and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. April was preceded in death by her father: Edward William Paul (1977); her step-father: Robert Junior Masterson (2018); and a nephew: Charles Edward Masterson (2015). Services are being planned for the early summer 2023 and will be announced when finalized.
