Cecelia M. White

Cecelia M. (Forrest) White, 79, of Sault Ste. Marie went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2013. Born on October 26, 1933 in Brimley, MI, Cecelia was the youngest of 12 children to Adelaide (Yon) and Marshall Forrest. Cecelia was married to Maurice White, and they had six beautiful children. She retired from Lake Superior State University, having spent many years as a cook. She was an active member of St. Joseph''s Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Joseph''s Ladies Guild. She devoted much of her time and energy volunteering through her church. She helped with luncheons, bazaars, participated in prayer chain, and volunteered at the Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe every Monday afternoon. Her interests included spending time with her family, cooking, baking and collecting butterflies. She was preceded in death by her parents, along with brothers: Arnold Forrest, Lyle Forrest, Lawrence Forrest, Lincoln Forrest, Leo Forrest, and sisters: Mavis Wenman, Helen Savoie, and Frances Donnelly. She is survived by her six children: Randall (Kathy) White, Mark (Fran) White, Georgina White, and Mary (Larry) Perron, all of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Theresa White of Santa Clara, CA; and Kathy (William) Smith of Milford, MI. Cecelia was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Michael (Lynda) White, Alyssia (Justin) Teeple, Joshua White, Preston White, Kevin (Shannon) White, Angela White, George Tessier IV, Melanie (Tim) McBride, and Jacob Perron; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by siblings: Henry (Shirley) Forrest of Brimley, MI; Doris (Walter) Wheatley of Hamilton, OH; Lila (Ray) Royer of Rudyard, MI; and sister-in-law Grace Forrest of Newark, NJ; along with many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with Father Piotr Zaczynski as Celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph''s Church Ladies Guild. Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
