Charles "Chuck" Leigh

Charles "Chuck" Leigh., age 67, of Kinross, Michigan passed away early Saturday morning, November 5, 2016 at the Hospice of the EUP - Hospice House. Chuck was born on May 15, 1949 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late James and Adeline (Copper) Leigh. He owned Lil' Chuck's Lawn Care and Snow Removal. Before that, he worked for over 20 years for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Prior to that he owned the Midtown Restaurant on Ashmun Street. Chuck always enjoyed cooking. In his younger years he loved hunting, and fishing. He was also happily addicted to donating money to the various Casinos across the Upper Peninsula. Always sharing how much he won but never divulging his losses. He was very instrumental in contributing a tremendous amount of time at the VFW organization and the Orioles Club. He was also a volunteer at the American Legion. Chuck loved spending time with friends and he loved to tell BIG stories. He was gifted in the art of spreading joy and happiness to all those he came in contact with. He had an amazing gift of humor which always made people laugh. Strangers became his friends without hesitance as he was openly honest about his feelings and outrageously funny. Chuck is survived by his siblings: Donna (Gary) Greenfield Sr. of Bark River, MI, Paula Boutillier of Hillside, NJ, Mike (Deb Brewster) Leigh of Kinross, MI, John (Kathy) Leigh of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Renee Crisp of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Brenda (Jim) Solko of Brimley, MI, Cindy (Randy) McKinney of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Rhonda (Joe) Cottelit of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; two Aunts: Mary Scarfone of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Wanda (Phil) Woolworth of Barbeau, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck is also survived by some very special friends: Gary and JoAnne, Donnie and Blanche, Connie, Joe, and Dale, as well as, many others; and he was affectionately cared for by Sheila Carnesi. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law: Gary Boutillier and Jim Crisp. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at Kinross Lakeview Cemetery on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Hospice of the EUP or the American Cancer Society.
