Charlotte June Bruning

Charlotte June Bruning, age 71, of Cedarville, Michigan, died on November 1, 2017, in Gaylord, Michigan, from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease). She was born on August 12, 1946 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Raymond James and Della June (Hancock) Fountain. Charlotte grew up in Pickford, Michigan and graduated from Pickford Public School in 1964. She attended Patricia Stevens College in Wisconsin. After returning from college, she met Ernest C. Bruning and they married on September 17, 1966, at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cedarville. Charlotte worked as a waitress for many years before working at the sewing center in Kinross, Michigan. She also was a bus driver for Cedarville Schools for thirteen years and then drove a special education bus at Sault Ste. Marie Schools for six years before retiring. After she retired, she spent much of her time at their cabin on the water north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Charlotte was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cedarville. Charlotte loved listening to music and dancing. She danced until she wore out her dancing boots. She enjoyed camping, cooking, crocheting, sewing, knitting, cake decorating, and both flower and vegetable gardening. She loved interior design and being a 4-H Leader. She was involved in 4-H as was recognized as being a volunteer for over 24 years. Charlotte stated that 4-H lasts a lifetime, she had been involved since she was in 4th Grade. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Ernest “Pep” Bruning of Cedarville; mother, Della Fountain of Pickford; daughter, Luella ‘Elli” Lasley (Fred DeVuono) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; son, Drew Bruning of Cedarville; grandchildren, Dakota Swinton, Saige Bruning, Shelby Lasley, Zachery Lasley, and Austin (Shaylee) Bruning; great-grandson, Carson Bruning; sisters-in-law, Kathy Fountain of Pickford, Nancy Bennett of Frederic, Michigan, Elaine Grulke of Roger City, Michigan, Betty Cole of Alpena, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her son, Dean Allen Bruning; brother, Richard Fountain Sr.; father, Raymond Fountain; father and mother-in-law, Ernest E. and Loretta Bruning; brothers-in-law, Walter “Mick” Bruning, Arlo Bruning, Arnold Bruning, Ron (Rita) Bruning, Ervin Grulke, Thomas Bennett, Bill Cole; and sister-in-law, Judy Wrigglesworth. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan, with funeral services following at 1:00 P.M.
