Daphine Viola (Bednarz) Stabile

Daphine Viola Stabile of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away Thursday May 15, 2014 at War Memorial Hospital. She was born March 24, 1923 in Alpha, Michigan the daughter of John and Margaret Bednarz. Our mother had a long, full active life. She grew up in Iron Mountain, Michigan and moved to Sault Ste. Marie to work at Camp Lucas as a supply secretary. After meeting a handsome sailor she was transferred to Chicago, Illinois. Absence truly made her heart grow fonder and she returned to Sault Ste. Marie to marry that sailor, our father, John Stabile in 1946. They spent the next 62 years together raising five children and enjoying a large extended family and a multitude of lifelong friends in Little Italy. Mom worked at JoAnn Fabrics, which aided in her love of sewing. She also was the kitchen manager of the Christopher Columbus Hall for many years. She was active in the C.C. Hall Ladies Auxiliary and Hospice. She and Dad traveled often to visit family and friends throughout the United States. In 2005 they took a trip to Italy, but her favorite trips were the Sunday visits to Brimley to spend time with best friends at Fabricino’s cabin. She was happiest when surrounded by family and supporting the endeavors of her grandchildren. Daphine is survived by 3 sons John ’Nick’ (Laura Giddens) Stabile; Tom (Sally) Stabile and Chris (Jocelyn) Stabile; 2 daughters Gina (Sandy) Badenski and JoLene (Tom) DePlonty. Sisters-in-law Lena McDowell, Corky Tisdale, Olga Kirkpatrick, Amelia Kiley and special sister-in –law Karen Stabile. Brother-in-law Bob Tisdale. Grandchildren Tammy Sommers, John (Nicole) Stabile, Andy (Tara) Stabile, Juli (Nate) Denny, Christopher Stabile, Dana Jo DePlonty, Danielle Bartunek and Brent Badenski. Great Grandchildren Izaiah Gebbink, Keller Domenico Stabile, Cole McNamara, Riley Roberts, Tate Stabile, Eli and Cade Denny, Greg Lipponen, Roger Lipponen and Brent Lipponen. She is predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Bednarz and all 10 of her siblings. Visitation will be held 2:00pm until 6:00pm Monday May 19, 2014 at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 5:00pm Monday May 19, 2014 at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home with Deacon Bill Piche officiating. Memorials to the Hospice of the E.U.P. would be appreciated.
