Dolores "Beaver" Olga Ginste

Dolores Olga ”Beaver” (DePottey) Ginste, age 93, was called to her heavenly home on December 9, 2024, while at her home in St. Ignace, Michigan. She was born on January 22, 1931, in Engadine, Michigan, to Alfred and Augusta (Fenske) DePottey. Dolores grew up in Engadine, and attended Engadine schools. She then moved downstate and worked at Models Hobby Shop in Ferndale, MI for forty years. During this time she met and married Richard, her husband, and raised their family in Macomb county. After her husband’s death she moved to Mackinac Island and St. Ignace, Michigan, where she worked at Lil Bob’s Restaurant for twenty years until the closing of the restaurant in 2006. She then spent ten years working at Mackinac Fudge. Dolores finally retired in her mid eighties! Dolores helped start Hope Lutheran Church in Harbor Hope coffee shop. She enjoyed helping people, and” love your neighbor” was her way. She enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and crafts. She was always on the go taking back road adventures, walking in the woods and traveling. She loved camping, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. She enjoyed doing crafts, blueberry picking, sharing the gospel and a Mother’s Day tradition of picking morels. She even made homemade maple syrup! Dolores is survived by her children, Dick (Carol) Ginste, Chris Ginste, Ron (Luda) Ginste, Dennis (Debbie) Church, and Sue (Andy) Eskelinen, daughter in law, Connie Ginste; sixteen grandchildren, Wayne Jr. (Colleen) Ginste, Jackie Ginste, Grant Ginste, Nicole (Nathan) McKee, Katie (Jared) Salisbury, Samantha Church, Jennifer (Matt) Kosakowski, Jody (Allen) Diegel, Julie Talampas, Janell (Jason) Lockard, twenty four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Casey, Jack, Josh, Faith, Luke, Hailey, Adam, Miles, Nolan, Lauren, Emily, Madelyn, Andrew, Adam, Anna, Alicia, Shawn, Sebastian, Shanylah, Jacob, Owen, Molly, and Mary Grace. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and best friend and neighbor, Beverly Gorman. Dolores was preceded in death by husband Richard; son, Wayne Ginste; parents, Alfred and Augustus; brothers, Walter DePottey, Harry DePottey, Dan (Juanita) DePottey, and Bob (MaryLou) DePottey; sisters, Ruth (Pat) St. Andre and Lois (Dick) Mouton; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Ginste. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home 47477 Romeo Plank Road, Macomb, MI 48044. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church 17051 24 Mile Road, Macomb, MI 48042. Dolores’s final resting place with be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Macomb, Michigan Family Life Funeral Homes and Hauss-Modetz Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
