Dolores Elda Samborski

Dolores “Dee” Elda Samborski, age 85, of Alanson, Michigan, and, for the last three years, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Cedarville, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at home in Cedarville. She was born April 21, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alexander and Elda (Guilmond) Brown. Her husband of 50 years, William “Bill” Samborski, also from Chicago, were married in Brighton, Michigan. They resided in the Detroit and Taylor areas until 1978 when they moved to Oden, Michigan. From 1978 to 1998, the couple owned and operated The Carriage Trade Party Store and Lake Apartments in Oden. In February 2014, Dee moved to Cedar Cove Assisted Living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dee was a very active member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Brutus, Michigan, and attended the First Union Church in Cedarville. Dee is survived by two daughters, Ruth (David) McLeese of Decatur, Michigan, and Alice (Lonnie) Newton of Cedarville; grandchildren, Daryl (Brandy) McLeese, Shawn (Lianna) McLeese, Shannon McLeese, William (Tina) Double, John (Marion) Newton, and Tammy Wood; great grandchildren, Addison, Alexys, Eoin, Kian, Fynn, Shannon, Austin, Tamara, Jeremiah, Caroline, Alissa, and Caleb; nephew, Robert Splinter and niece, Mary Blalock, both of Alanson; and many other nieces and nephews. Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2002; good friend, Ross Ackley in 2013; sister, Margaret Splinter; and niece, Barbara Carter. Dee’s family would like to thank everyone at Cedar Cove for taking such good care of her and also the Hospice of the EUP for their care during Dee’s final days. Her children also thank their cousins, Robert Splinter and Mary Blalock for all they did to help Dee. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, from 2:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. at Cedar Cove Assisted Living, 266 Mary L Street in Cedarville and Friday, May 26, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon at Zion Christian Fellowship, 6590 Maple River Road in Brutus, Michigan. The Funeral Service will follow visitation Friday at 12:00 Noon at Zion Christian Fellowship with Pastors Leroy Sutfin and Roger Fate conducting the service.
