Eugene Campeau

Eugene Ronald Campeau, age 65, of Brimley, Michigan passed away Friday afternoon, August 17, 2018, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit surrounded by his loved ones. Eugene was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on March 3, 1953. He graduated from Brimley High School with the class of 1971. He continued his education at Ferris State University where he studied diesel mechanics that he utilized every day of his life as a man working as a logger. Eugene owned Campeau and Son Logging, also ran his own sawmill and sold firewood that allowed Eugene to live his life in the environment that he loved most. Eugene lived his entire life where his spirit was happiest in the woods as a logger and outdoorsman as a hunter, fisherman and being part of nature that he has shared with his children and enthusiastically shared with his grandchildren. The joy of being a grandfather was some of great pride. The greatest gifts he gave to his children was a strong work ethic, love for the outdoors and the woods that will be shared as Campeau Family Heritage. Eugene was widely respected as one of the hardest working men with great honesty and integrity always giving more of himself to all those around him even those he didn't know. Eugene had a large passion for teaching others by sharing his knowledge of the woods, fishing, and hunting, Eugene spent his time being true to his character as an outstanding truck pulling and mud running wild man with his father and his son Kieth. Also, enjoying the softer side of life as an organic gardener and raising his chickens as being self-sufficient with everything he touched and his being with Carol his companion. Eugene is survived by his children: Kieth (Sherri) Campeau and Amber Campeau DeMolen both of Brimley, MI; and six grandchildren: Jarid, Alyssa, Jacob, Marissa, Kahler, and Addison. He is also survived by his dear companion: Carole Traverse of Brimley, MI; his mother: Elvera Campeau of Brimley, MI; and three sisters: Deborah (Charles) LaRue, Laura (Bruce) LeBlanc, and Donna (Rick) Baker all of Brimley, MI. Eugene was preceded in death by his father: Eugene Romuald Campeau (2010); a brother: Robert G. Campeau; and a sister: Paula F. Campeau. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Lockhart officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home starting at 1:00 PM. Following the service, the burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
