Florence "Flo" Dee Lewis

Florence "Flo" Dee Lewis, age 69, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Thursday evening, July 9, 2015 at the Hospice of the EUP - Hospice House. Flo was born on February 13, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Vergilia (Askey) Carley. She was a graduate of Berkley High School and later attended Saginaw Valley University. Flo married Danny Lee Lewis on January 23, 1965 at Unity Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. Her Motto was "Go with the Flo" In the late 70's, Flo was a 4-H leader in West Branch, Michigan. Her passion was with horses where Flo and her family traveled all over Michigan to horse shows. Flo and her family moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1985. In addition to being a very successful business woman, Flo was also a very important member of Realtors at Smith and Co. Real Estate. She began her career as a realtor in 1991 at Northland (Red Carpet Keim) Real Estate. Her Motto "Go with the Flo" was recognizable on real estate signs all over the EUP. Her big smile, friendly and caring demeanor, and professionalism helped many families achieve their dream of home ownership. Flo received Realtor of the Year in 2000; an award given by her peers. In 2005, she received the award of top dollar sales volume for EUP Board of Realtors. Flo believed in the importance of education and attended countless Michigan and National Association of Relator events. She held the designation of ABR (Accredited Buyer Agency) and GRI (Graduate - Realtor Institute) she was an Ambassador (Red Coats) with the Chamber of Commerce and earned the Donna Bergfalk Ambassador Award on several occasions. Flo's Love of life was evident in all she did. She was ready to jump in with both feet whether the task was one of sheer pleasure or one that involved a lot of work and volunteer effort. Flo loved her family dearly. Flo and her husband (Dan) loved to travel to Florida and enjoyed golfing at various courses around Michigan. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Flo is survived by her husband: Danny Lewis; two children: Danny (Bernadette) Lewis of Lapeer, MI, and Carrie (Sean) Raynard of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; three grandchildren: Brooke (Ryan) Hohenthaner and Jena and Bailey Lewis; and two great grandchildren: Tate and Beau Hohenthaner. She is also survived by three sisters: Carole (Paul) Becker of Sugar Spring, MI, Bonnie Carley of Oakland Township, MI, and Shirley Crisp of Birch Run, MI. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Peggy Hill officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home that same day from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Hospice of the EUP.
