Grace Lorraine Piche

Grace L. (Graham) Piche, 84 - a lifelong resident of Brimley, Michigan, entered into eternal life on July 23, 2017, at the Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie. Her children and several grandchildren were at her side. Grace was born at the Turner Convalescent Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on February 12, 1933 to John and Dorothy Graham. Grace grew up on the family farm on Midway Road in Dafter, Michigan. She met Archie Piche and they married on October 28, 1950 and they bought his family farm on Piche Road and began raising their own family there. After farming for many years, Grace and Archie sold the farm and built a new home on Six Mile Road near Brimley. Grace helped run the farm; she also worked as a waitress at many area restaurants, but her main and most fulfilling work was raising and caring for her children. Grace was a wonderful cook and baker; especially her Rhubarb pies. There was always a fight among the family for the first piece of pie each spring. Grace's passion was quilting- she made wall hangings, hot pads and full size quilts. Grace made beautiful quilted articles for all her family members. These will be cherished by them for a long time. Grace was a lifelong member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish, where she and Archie made the first pasties to be sold for the parish improvement funds. The original recipe is still used today and sold out every month. Grace was also a member of the Brimley VFW Auxiliary in Brimley. Grace is survived by her five children; Duane (Debra); Theresa (Ron) Mills; Kathy (Al) O'Brien; David (Kim); all of Brimley and Dennis (Alejandro) of Connecticut. Grandchildren; Amy (Fiore) Cappelli; Renee (Bob) Johnson; Sally (Jacques) DeMolen; Chad O'Brien; Suzanne (Mike Carrick) Mills; Adam (Shari) Mills; Luc Piche; Lance (Mindy) Piche; all of Brimley. Jen (Troy) Jorgenson of Gregory, Michigan; Keith (Nicki) O'Brien of Marquette; Scott (Katerine) O'Brien of Navare, Florida; Lyanne (Albert) Torres and Rochelle Piche of Ocala, Florida. Great-grandchildren are Fiore and Dante Cappelli; Garrett and Darren Johnson; Justin and Joel DeMolen; Mazi and Hali Jorgenson; Chase and Paisley Mills; Taylor, Alex and Austin O'Brien; Emma and Logan O'Brien; Kurt and Charlotte O'Brien; Giovanni and Sophia Torres. Preceding Grace in death were her husband Archie in 2010, her parents John and Dorothy Graham, brother Chester Graham and sister Agnes St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. - Thursday, July 27th, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Brimley, Michigan. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice House of Sault Ste. Marie. The care Grace received while there was the best.
