Helen Frances Sieloff

Helen Frances Sieloff, age 90, of Raber, Michigan, died July 1, 2016, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born March 22, 1926, in Raber Township to Frank and Catherine (Kusina) Bender. Helen grew up in Raber and graduated from DeTour High School. As a young woman she moved to Wyandotte, Michigan, where she worked at Great Lakes Steel. She met Theodore W. Sieloff at work and they were married September 6, 1947, in Taylor, Michigan. They made their home in Taylor where they operated a crop farm raising corn, soybeans, and many different vegetables, some of which they sold at a roadside stand. In 1985, they retired to Raber where they gardened and sold the vegetables they didn’t give away at Pickford’s Farmer’s Market. Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville, Michigan. Helen enjoyed gardening so much so that she spent much of her time in the winter looking at seed catalogs and preparing for spring. Helen is survived by one son, Reverend Larry Sieloff of Mantua, Ohio; two daughters, Marilyn Kielbasa of Flint, Michigan, and Patricia (Dan) Muscavitch of Rices Landing, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Laurea Sieloff, Scott (Meridy) Sieloff, William (Jodi) Sieloff, Marti Kaye Kielbasa, Michael (Shannon) Kielbasa, Julie (fiancé, Brian Jacoby) Muscavitch, and Matthew Muscavitch; and great grandchildren, Marissa, Elisebeth, Arianna, Mason, Harper, Sydney, Aiden, Abigail, and Eli; and one great granddaughter, Azalea. She is also survived by sisters, Genevive “Jenny” Lisicki of Poland and Eleanor (Jack) Dillon of Lincoln Park, Michigan; sister-in-law, Delores Bender of Goetzville; brother-in-law, Jerome “Harry” Olszewski of Goetzville; sister-in-law, Lillian Caban of Wyandotte; and brother-in-law, Howard Sieloff of Henderson, Nevada. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; daughter-in-law, Sharron Sieloff; and siblings, Edna Galarowic, Ada Dombrowski, John Bender, Ann Hormbela, Max Bender, Frank Bender, Gertrude Olszewski, and Edwin Bender. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 8 at 12:00 Noon at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 12841 E. Traynor Road in Goetzville. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Goetzville.
