Henry 'Hank' Thomas Bowen

Henry T. Bowen aka ”Hank” of Bay Mills, age 77 lost his battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family on April 10, 2013. He started his career in Flint Michigan as an inspector for AC Spark Plug. He retired in 1987 and moved back home where he began his real job of beautifying his community. A Generation and a half owe their work ethic, and love for the community to this great man. His yard was the entire reservation and for this we shall be ever thankful. Reminder''s are spread throughout the area of this man''s love of his yard. For those who do not personally know him, many know of his works. The little Mac on the stretch, the Mini Iroquois Lighthouse, the trails and snowmobile trails, and just the general cleanliness of our tribe of which he inspired his fellow tribal members to strive for through example. He was an artist who took much pride in his works, and they only got better with each successive visit from Hank. He will be remembered as a Icon Artist as many in his family were and are, as his canvas was his community, and he worshiped that opportunity to paint a very special place where friends and family could gather and celebrate the beauty we so often take for granted. Survived by his beautiful wife Iva Bowen, children Wendy (Kevin) Brown, Kim Wolf, Tiffany Bergstrom, Andy (Nadine) Lyon, Trevor Bowen, Joe Bowen and Cathy Bowen. Grandchildren Timber, Logan, Christopher, Austin, Jacob, Dustin, Natalie, Jorgiamay, Ivan, Shawntaeya, Anthony, Sierra, Henry, Latara, George, Tommy and many nieces and nephews. Siblings George (Linda), Leo (Delores), Jim, Robert (Dee), Doug, and Dorothy. He goes home to his relations waiting for him, parents John and Isabella Bowen, Siblings John, Albert, and Florence and son George. Family will receive visitor’s at the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Bay Mills Michigan from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday April 12, 2013 with prayer at 7:30pm and the a funeral service being held on Saturday April 13 at 11:00am at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church with Father Augustine Jacob and Father Ted Brodeur as Celebrants.
