John Anthony Bosbous

John Anthony Bosbous, Jr. "Birddog", age 65, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on September 22, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on October 31, 1957, to John Anthony Sr. and Ceil Margaret (Beauchamp) Bosbous. John grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Church, where he served as an altar boy. He graduated from Sault Area High School with the class of 1975 and then managed the local McDonald's and Big Boy Restaurants before working as a Process Server with Chippewa County's court system and served for twenty-five years. John was the owner and operator of Birddog Services. He met Joyce Ann Carlson, while she worked as a teller at the credit union, and they married on March 20, 1998. John took over the family business from his parents, owning and operating the Dockside Cafe inside the Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours for thirty plus years. After many years of work, John thought it was time to retire in 2021. John was very active with the Soo Eagles Hockey, serving as Operations Manager and Marketing Director. He was a member of the Soo Men's Slow-pitch softball leagues in Sault Ste. Marie, the Men's Commercial bowling league at the Dondee Lanes, and was an umpire for many years for ASA Softball. John loved watching sports and enjoyed watching the Detroit Redwings, Tigers, Lions, and the Soo Eagles Hockey. He also loved going on cruises with Joyce and traveling to Iceland and Arizona. John is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Brad (Mandy) Bosbous of Sault Ste. Marie, daughters, Lacie (Jason) Wojnaroski of Sault Ste. Marie, and Kamie (Grant) Mosley of Peoria, Arizona; step-sons Peter (Veronica) Anderson of Gwinn, Michigan, and Frank (Carlie) Anderson of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Andrew and Avery Bosbous, Faith, Alyssa, Jaycie Wojnaroski, Carter Synett, Mariah (Edrik) and Alexis Mosley, Jordan (Jane) Jones, Chandler Jones, William, Weston Anderson, Jocelyn, Brayden, Easton, Davin, and Dalton Anderson; three great-grandchildren; sister, Tracey Wright of Branson, Missouri; brothers, Kevin Bosbous of Sault Ste. Marie, and Jeff (Amy) Bosbous of Sault Ste. Marie; best friend, Bruno Bragagnolo; special friend and caretaker, Sandi Smith; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ceil; sister-in-law, Denise Bosbous; and parents-in-law, Carl and Elvira Carlson; grandson, and several aunts and uncles. A Special Thanks to Christy Curtis with the EUP Health Hospice, for all her care and compassion in John's final days. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at CS Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. A Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00 PM.
