John Albert Wollan

John Wollan, 74, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away at his home on Thursday May 26, 2022 at his home. He was born September 29, 1947 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Orval and Cecilia Wollan. John has resided in Sault Ste. Marie, MI since 1960 and since 2007 has resided at Meridian Heights Adult Foster Care Home. John enjoyed a very full life and never new a stranger. He would introduce himself to anyone he met no matter the circumstances. John enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and then participating in all the activities his latest home provided for him. He also enjoyed campfires and all family get togethers for any special occasion. John was extremely patriotic. He always had a flag near by and would salute it daily. John is survived by his brothers, Orval (Sharon) Wollan, Thomas Wollan, Joseph (Mary) Wollan all of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; sisters, Charlene Nunnelee of Bakersfield, CA, Linda (Larry) Watson of Mannford, OK, Cynthia Bright of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; nieces and nephews, Orval John (Elizabeth) Wollan, Karen (Robert) Johnston, Katherine Wollan, special nephew Ernie Bright all of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Helena Wollan of Nashville, TN, Dana Scott and Ladona Watson of Mannford, OK; great nieces and nephews, Tyler and Ryan Wollan, Nicholas and Triton Johnston, Mason Bright, Cacy Roberts, Dylan and Delaney Scott, and James Potts. John's family would like to give a very heartfelt Thank You to all the staff both past and present at Meridian Heights for the wonderful care and love they had for John over the years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Ockenfels who was a true blessing for his care and concern and the Riverside Medical Staff has been truly wonderful. Visitation will be Thursday June 2, 2022 from 11:00am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1101 Minneapolis St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, with Father Romeo Cappella officiating. Final resting place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in John's name to Meridian Heights Adult Foster Care Home, c/o Alicia Hallesy Manager, 1105 Meridian St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
