June Elizabeth Peffers

June Elizabeth (Morrison) Peffers, age 86, of Pickford, Michigan, died on December 5, 2017 at Freighter View Assisted Living in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on March 15, 1931 in Sault Ste. Marie, to Clayton Thomas and Jennie Luella (Taylor) Morrison. June grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford Schools in 1949 as class Valedictorian. She then attended Bob Jones University in North Carolina for a year before returning to Pickford. She married Ernest W. Peffers on January 31, 1953 at Pickford United Methodist Church, after his return from the United States Army. June helped on the farm while they raised their four children. She started working at Sault Saving Bank–Pickford Branch in the summer of 1966 and retired after 25 years. June was a member of the Pickford United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Association, and Farm Bureau. June enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, gardening, and canning vegetables. She also loved spending time with her grandkids baking, picking berries, and walking to the barn to see animals. June is survived by her children, Steven (Joni) Peffers of Munising, Michigan, Marcia (Timothy) Leach of Pickford, Neil (Gayle) Peffers of Pickford, and Joel (Lori) Peffers of Pickford; grandchildren, Stacey (Ryan) Masters, Ashley (Josh) Mallann, Linsey (James) Hudson, Benjamin (Brandie) Leach, Angie (Shawn) Bennin, Brent Peffers, Clayton (Sierra Krough) Peffers, Kirk Peffers, Jason Peffers, and Jenna (Roy) Hammonds; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Riley, Darcy, Lucy, Gunner, Mackenzie, Bailey, Connor, Lily, Noah, Rory, Beckett, Anders, Kadance, Ava, Alana, Ailynn, Jaylynn, Justin, and Daniel; sister, Dorothea (Reagan) Callaway of Missoula, Montana; sisters-in-law, Opal Gagnon of Sault Ste, Marie and Emily Pinto of Boynton Beach, Florida; and brother-in-law Floyd (Gerry) Peffers of Dafter, Michigan. June is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; granddaughter, Kristina Peffers; great-granddaughter, Hailey Peffers; sister, Audrey (James) Norton; and several brothers and sisters-in-laws. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 P.M.
