June Teresa Porcaro

June Curran Porcaro lifelong resident of Sault Ste. Marie, MI lost her battle with cancer March 12, 2015 at the age of 87 when the lord took her home. June is the daughter of Antoine and Mable (Fisher) LaJoice of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She is survived by her loving husband Frank Porcaro, sister Louise Benson of Cedar Springs, MI and her beloved sister in law Orzelie LaJoice of Trout Lake, MI. Daughters Renee (Herman) Calkins of Kincheloe, MI. Rainella (Arty) LaPonsie of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Raella (Ron) Green of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Patti (Scott) Curran of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Bobby Jo (James) Mann of Washington State and special daughter Toyo Eggert of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. June is survived by sons Randy (Denise) Gordon of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Frank Gordon of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Robert Gordon of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Step children Lisa (Mike) Phillips of Maine, Gina (Erni) Roberts of Maine, and Frank Porcaro Jr. of Massachusetts and her precious dog Lady. June was preceded in death by her two sons Ronald Gordon and Michael Gordon. Two brothers Virgil LaJoice and Ronald LaJoice and her sister Bernice Mitchell. June has 33 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Along with many beloved nieces and nephews. June is a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. On November 6, 2007 the tribe honored her for her foster home and runaway shelter she ran for three decades helping over 2,000 tribal and non-tribal youth. Many of the kids that went through the house still refer to her as mom and even after retirement the kids still come to visit, say hi, ask for her advice and reminisce. The tribe named November 6th as June Curran Porcaro Day. Many called her Mom or Grandma June. Moms doors, arms, and heart were always open. If you asked her what her name was she would tell you….June Teresa Mary LaJoice Gordon Curran Porcaro. Visitation will be Tuesday March 17 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Tuesday March 17 11:00am at St. Mary’s ProCathedral in Sault Ste. Marie with Father Sebastian Kavumkal officiating.
