Kenneth J. Fazzari

Kenneth James Fazzari (Stubborn Italian) born, October 29th, 1943, to Rosa (Sylvestro) Fazzari, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and Michele Fazzari, of Calabria, Italy, passed away on August 22nd, 2012. Ken was a loving husband, a father of three (3) and grandfather of nine (9). He was a life-long resident, raised in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and graduated from Loretto Catholic High School, in 1961. He attended Lake Superior State College for 2 years, before transferring to Western Michigan University to earn a B.S. in Biology. He was a long time Writer and Editor-In-Chief for the Sault Evening News. After 33years, his last article was published April 7th, 2000; titled, "It was a long run, for the most part a good run." He also had a short stint as a bar owner (of the Belvidere Ship Lounge) and served in the Sault National Guard for 6 years. He was a member of different organizations, including the Sports Writers Hall of Fame, Christopher Columbus Hall, U.P Editors, and the Laker Club. He was an avid sportsman and self-proclaimed sport-aficionado. He loved Deer Hunting, Fishing, & Camping, and spent many evenings crabbing about the Lions, Tigers, and Piston''s... . Oh my! He was preceded in death, by his parents, Rosa & Michele, his infant brother Michael James, and brothers-In-Law, Kenneth Kelley and Michael Hoholik. Ken will be missed by his wife of 47 years, Linda Joy (Otis) Fazzari; sons Joe (Ruth) Fazzari, Tony (Carmen) Fazzari, and Steven (Kelli) Fazzari; sisters, Nancy Kelley, Antoinette (Jerry) Mancuso, Frances Hoholik, Ann Marie (Jim) Woodall, Carolyn (Joe) Howie, Rose Ann (Steve) Barner; brother Raymond (Dora) Fazzari; cousin, Brian Short; uncle, Frank Sylvestro; and his nine (9) grandchildren, Nikki, Emily, Ava, Emmett, Liza, Dominic, Annabelle, Sophie Jo, Orran, many nieces and nephews, and lots of friends. Ken''s family will receive friends, Friday, August 24th, 2012 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm (Prayers to start at 7:30pm) at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home, 113 Maple St., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday August 25, 2012 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church, 320 East Portage Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, MI at 12:00 NOON.
