Laura JoAnne Schroyer

Laura JoAnne Schroyer, age 71, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on April 14, 2025, at the Ball Hospice in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on September 26, 1953, at the Sault Ste. Marie to John and Cornelia (Snider) Hesselink. Laura grew up in Rudyard, Michigan, and attended Rudyard High School, later dedicating her life to helping others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Laura retired from Hearthside Assisted Living, where she was known for her kindness, warmth, and deep compassion. A devoted member of The Well Church in Kincheloe, Laura lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love of nature. She was a true flower and plant enthusiast—her garden was her sanctuary, and she proudly shared photos of her blossoms with friends and family. Whether she was getting her hands dirty in the soil, tending to her flower beds, or enjoying a sunny day outdoors, Laura found joy in the simplest things. Laura cherished family outings, especially trips to Tahquamenon Falls and other scenic spots, always ready for an adventure or a round of cards. Garage sales were treasure hunts, and she often came away with something useful for someone she loved. Snowcaps were her sweet indulgence, and wild blueberries her favorite find. From childhood, Laura’s playful spirit shone brightly. Whether she was building her teeter-totter from boards and rails, playing in muddy sandboxes, or later in life sewing, doing puzzles, or riding her bike, she embraced life with a creative and joyful heart. Laura is survived by her daughters, Eve (David) Fisher of Kincheloe, Michigan, and Sara (Joaquin) Lopez of Sault Ste. Marie; son, Robert Schroyer of Northport, Florida; grandchildren, Dylan Fisher, Gabriella Fisher, Melaniee Faye, and Robert Schroyer Jr.; sisters, Joyce (Tom) Berres of Wisconsin, Linda (Mike) Roorda of Lynden, Washington, Donna Hesselink of Rudyard, and Carol (Fred) Eby of Rudyard. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cornelia; and sister, Evelyn. A Celebration of Life will be held at the New Hope Church, 66 Cedar Grove Dr., Kincheloe, Michigan, 49788, on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM with a luncheon to follow. Laura’s final resting place will be at the North Rudyard Cemetery in Rudyard, Michigan.
