Lee Melvin Seaman

Lee Melvin Seaman of Dafter, Michigan, died on December 20, 2022, at the age of 53. He was born on January 17, 1969, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to parents Lee Morley and Joyce Marie (Johnson) Seaman. Lee grew up in Sault Ste. Marie. He graduated from Sault Area High School in 1987. After graduating, he went on to attend Central Michigan University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in History. He later went on to substitute teach while working towards his electrician license. While working for War Memorial Hospital as an electrician, Lee met the love of his life, Dawne (Danley) Seaman. They married on July 12, 2014, and made a life together. Lee worked for various contracting positions in the Eastern Upper Peninsula as an Electrician over the years and was dedicated to his trade. Lee was a member of the UP Electrician’s Union, Local Union 906, IBEW. Lee was someone who enjoyed tinkering around in his garage or finding a project to accomplish. He was known as a “MacGyver” to his friends and family. He could build or fix anything. He was a handyman and enjoyed working on old tractors in his spare time. He also spent time hunting and fishing in the great outdoors and loved teaching his family about hunting and fishing. He enjoyed watching the History Channel in his downtime. Lee made many friends over the years and loved his family greatly; he leaves behind many who will miss him. Lee is survived by his wife, Dawne Seaman, of Dafter, Michigan; children Joshua (Kelsey) McCollum of Tampa, Florida, Kiefer (Lashonda) McCollum of Fraser, Michigan, and Cali (Len) Desormeau of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; grandchild Rhett; mother Joyce Seaman; sister Mary (Barry) O’Connor; nieces and nephews Chelsey (Brian), Hailee, Owen, and Ryan, all of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; Aunt Rose (Terry) Sack of Newberry, Michigan; in-laws George and Carol Danley of Trout Lake, Michigan; his beloved dog Lucy; and many other cousins and good friends. Lee is preceded in death by his father Lee Morley Seaman; uncles Charlie Johnson and Edward Johnson; Grandparents Melvin & Ina Seaman and Chick & Clara Johnson. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends on Monday, December 26, at Galer Funeral Homes in Pickford, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 am and service will be at 11:30 am. The final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie, where Lee will be buried next to his dad.
