Lillian Murphy

Lillian Murphy Lillian Mae Murphy, age 87, of Arvada, Colorado passed away July 27, 2019 at Westminster Lifecare Center in Colorado. Lillian was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on March 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Willard and Mamie (Ollila) Gibbons. On August 4, 1952, Lillian married William Thomas Murphy, also of the Soo. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1979 where Lillian started a 20-year career with the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles. Lillian was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in the Sault for most of her life. She enjoyed family get-togethers, baking, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and three sisters: Faye, Betty and Glenna. Lillian is survived by her loving husband, William as well as her brother, Richard and sister, Dolores, both of the Sault. She is also survived by 5 children: Rick (Sandy) Murphy of Larkspur, CO; Ann (Donald) Coombe of Arvada, CO; Jan (Michael) Hole of Highlands Ranch, CO; Marjorie (Eric) Ringer of Homer, AK; and Mark (Mary) Murphy of Arvada, CO. Lillian was blessed with 12 grandchildren: TJ Murphy, Glenna (Edward) Hahn, Dana Murphy, Tamara (Michael) Webb, Michael Hole, Jessica Holsteen, Danielle (Chris) Johnson, Timothy (Rebecca) Hole, Tawni (Matt) Bell, Lloyd Coombe, Leanna (Zac) Zillmann, McKenna Coombe; and 12 great-grandchildren: Devin, Raie, Devontae, Emma, Isayah, Alexa, Delaney, Ariana, AdaLynn, AlexZandria, Colston, and Arlo. A 13th great-grandchild is expected in November. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Free Methodist Church in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. with Pastor Willard Hotchkiss officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. Donations in memory of Lillian Murphy can be made to the Sault Free Methodist Church (505 West 4th Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783).
