Linda Belle Dietz

Linda Belle Dietz (Bottrell), 69, died Tuesday July 14, 2015 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born June 24, 1946 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She attended Sault Area Schools, but married and moved away prior to graduating. Her primary job during the earlier years was that of homemaker and stay at home mom. Later she would go on to work many years in the hospitality industry as a housekeeper- both for private homes and for hotels. Her love of animals prompted her to also do volunteer work for rescue shelters to ensure the safety and care of homeless animals. Watching over her family, however, would remain the utmost priority throughout her life; always having demonstrated immense devotion. She lived in various places including Aviano Italy, Kansas, Delaware and Ohio, before returning back to Sault Ste. Marie to make a home for her family in the 1980's. Out of all the numerous places she had lived, the one closest to her heart had been the country home she had shared with her husband, whom she had met and married later in life. She continued to travel whenever possible throughout her life and was thrilled in participating in as many family activities as possible even in her later years; riding rollercoasters well into her 60's. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and delighted in getting together with friends to bake. Her quirky personality defined her as being a truly unique individual and believed in being true to ones self. Linda is survived by her daughter, Christine (husband Wesley "Gus") Esson of Sault, MI; four grandchildren: Charles "CJ" (wife April) Esson of Lincoln NE, Jessica (husband Ethan) Gilson of Dover DE, Wesley Cyle Esson (fiancee' Jamie Frazier) of Rochester MN, and Caleb Esson of Sault, MI. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Christopher, Aralea, Zachary, Kellan, Elijah, Samuel Esson; Wyatt and Logan Gilson. As well as her cherished pet cat, Pumpkin. She was preceded in death by her parents: S. James and Irene Bottrell; husband, Elvin Sonny Dietz; daughter, Irene D. Esson (Pletcher); and grandson, Matthew Esson. Linda was a perfect example that the true worth of a person would be better measured by all the good qualities they possessed and the treasures kept within ones heart... for she was truly genuine, thoughtful, generous, honest, selfless, and caring. Per Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. If you so desire, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society in her name.
