Lois Hillock

Lois Jean Hillock, age 76, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lois was born on March 19, 1943, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late William and Irene (Mitchell) Lines. She graduated from Sault High School with the class of 1961. She earned her Associate's Degree from Davenport Business College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On October 5, 1963, Lois married the love of her life Victor "Chum" Hillock, Jr. at the First United Presbyterian Church. She worked at Sault Area Public Schools as an elementary school secretary starting at Jefferson before moving to Lincoln and then to Washington. She loved interacting with the students and would call them Prince Charming and Cinderella as she greeted them. Lois was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women's Organization. She was a 4H leader for many years where she shared her love of sewing and gardening with children from throughout Chippewa County. Lois loved her family and was their most enthusiastic cheerleader, she cherished her grandchildren and never missed an activity or special event they were part of. Lois is survived by two daughters: Kaye (Randy) Vining of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Kathy (Mike) Derkowski of Brighton, MI: three grandchildren: Victoria, Joey, and Isabelle; and two siblings, M. Berniece (Herb) Ellis and Everett (Loretta) Lines both of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Victor "Chum" Hillock, Jr. A combined visitation for both her and her husband will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. A combined funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the First United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mark Gabbard officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens followed by a luncheon at the Bruce Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the First United Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
