Lois Mae Malette

On May 24, 2015, a beautiful Sunday morning with the sun streaming in, Lois Mae Malette, age 78, of Sault Ste. Marie went on to be with her Lord and Savior. Lois was born February 4, 1937 in Sault Ste. Marie to her proud father and mother, Albert & Mina (Mclean) Leach. There were four children in all - older brothers Jack and Neil and younger sister Wanda. Lois dearly loved her family. She fondly recalled childhood memories and her family was part of each day of her life - visiting, laughing, crying, supporting. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jack and Neil Leach. She is survived by her sister and lifelong friend Wanda Thompson and her husband Austin. Lois graduated from Sault High in the class of 1955. On November 7, 1958 Lois married Andrew Malette. Lois and Andy always put God first in their marriage and stood firm through the good times and bad - in sickness and in health. Lois dedicated the latter part of her life caring for Andy who is now a resident at War Memorial Hospital's Long Term Care. Lois and Andy had two children, Erick (Rick) and Dawn. There just aren't any words to describe her love and devotion. She could have worked anywhere - done anything - but she chose to dedicate all her time and energy to caring for and teaching these two the important things in life. As the years went on this same love and devotion surrounded her entire family. The family she has left behind will love and cherish her always. Son Erick, wife Debbie, and granddaughter Melissa Malette of Fairfax Station VA; daughter Dawn and husband Mark Palo of Chesapeake VA; grandson Jeremy, wife Emily and three great grandchildren Madelyn, Lucas and Rebecca Bosdell of Lebanon, Ohio. Lois's love flowed to Andy's big family, all of her nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and her many friends. Lois was a great cook. She will be remembered by her family and friends for holiday meals, church luncheons, preparing food for those who were sick and especially her famous lasagna, sloppy joes and chocolate chip cookies. Lois was a generous and giving person whose wishes, thoughts, prayers and contributions were felt by many. Lois loved her Lord and her church. She was a lifelong member of First Church of Christ where she humbly served and contributed in countless ways. There are just no words to describe the gratitude of Lois's family for the many dedicated caregivers at War Memorial Hospital who lovingly cared for her and those who continue to care for her husband. What a blessing the Hospice House is - thank you for taking care of EVERYTHING - guiding us through the last days, allowing us the precious last moments and keeping our Mom pain free. Lois would have preferred donations to War Memorial Hospital or the Hospice House in lieu of flowers. A viewing will be held at C.S. Mulder Funeral home on Thursday May 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 29th at the First Church of Christ at 11:00 a.m. with a light lunch following. The burial will be in Cedar Cemetery at a later date.
