Lola Jean Beyer

Lola Jean Beyer, age 81, of Cedarville, Michigan, died unexpectedly on October 25, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on October 10, 1937 in Reed City, Michigan, to Clarence and Grace (Lucas) Rothig. Lola grew up in Luther, Michigan and graduated from Luther High School in 1955. After high school she moved to Saginaw and started working for Michigan Bell Company. She met Howard Edward Beyer and they married on June 7, 1958 in Reese, Michigan. They began their family and raised three sons. Once the children were in school, Lola went back to work as an administrative clerk at Michigan Bell Company. She worked for 20 years before retiring in the late 1980’s. Lola and Howard loved the Eastern Upper Peninsula, and decided to make Cedarville their summer home, while wintering in Florida. Lola loved her flower gardens, they were always in pristine shape. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed fishing and boating. She loved spending time with family and had a special love for animals. Lola is survived by her husband, Howard Beyer of Cedarville; sons, Michael Beyer of Bay City, Michigan, Gary (Debbie) Beyer of Frankenmuth, Michigan, and Mark (Beth) Beyer of Frankenmuth; grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Dhooghe, Kelsie Beyer, Meaghan Beyer, and Quinn Beyer; great-grandchildren, Owen, LJ, and Taliya; sisters, Elaine (Dennis) Galvanek of Cadillac, Michigan, Linda Block of Reed City, Nancy Eckholm of Muskegon, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Charlene Rothig of Luther, Florence Koch of Frankenmuth, and Lois Frahm of Frankenmuth; and brother-in-law, Gerald (Pat) Beyer of Reese. Lola is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol (Robert) Young; brothers, Jerry (Jeannette) Rothig and Clarence Rothig; brothers-in-law, Jim Block and Charlie Eckholm. A private family service will be held. Entombment will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, in Bruce Township, Michigan.
