Marie Margaret Bawks

Marie Margaret Bawks, age 87, of Hessel, Michigan, died August 7, 2015 at home with all of her children at her side. She was born October 20, 1927, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Alphonse Leandous Provencal and Margarette Bernadette (Bigelow) Provencal. Marie lived in Dearborn and Wayne, Michigan as a child and attended Wayne Schools until her mother became ill and she stayed at home to care for her brothers and sisters. She met Albert Mischka on a blind date that was successful as they were married on October 30, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Wayne. They made their home in Wayne where they raised six children and Albert worked for the Wayne County Road Commission. Albert died in 1979 and Marie moved to Hessel where her daughter Linda lived. Marie married Robert Bawks in 1980 at the VFW Hall in Hessel. Robert died in 1987. Marie was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. Marie enjoyed crafting, painting, embroidering, flower gardening, baking, and sewing. She was generous with her time and never forgot to acknowledge a birthday or anniversary. Marie was feisty right up to her last day – she was very independent and didn’t like to be fussed over. Marie loved her family most of all. Marie is survived by her children, Linda (Victor) Diehl of Hessel, Margaret Ann (Kenneth) Ziegler of Wayne, Patrick (Joycelyn) Mischka of Wayne, George Mischka of Kouts, Indiana, and Elizabeth Rose (Tillman) Brogg of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lisa, Lee, Ryan, Christopher, Cheryl Lynn, Raymond, Kimberly, Patrick, Cassandra, Tillman, Angela, Tracy, Chuckie, Tara, Amber, Ashley, April; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Michael, Stella, Mychaela, River, Denim, Echo, Diesel, Indigo, Gypsy, Dylan, Ava, Shelby, Cole, Paxton, Quinn, Caitlynn, Sandra, Timothy, Arron, Cheyenne, Austin, Anthony, Tori, Taya; great great-grandchildren, Macilynn, Everly, Preston, and Jake. She is also survived by her brothers, Carl (Marlene) Provencal of Westland, Michigan, and John Provencal of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and brother-in-law, Alex Flores of Westland. Marie was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Mischka and Robert Bawks; son, Charles W. Mischka; brothers, Paul, Anthony, and Joseph Provencal; and sisters, Eva Provencal and Rita Flores. A private family memorial service will be held. Inurnment will be in United Memorial Gardens, 4800 Curtis Road, Plymouth, Michigan.
