Marjorie Somes

Marjorie Somes passed away on January 16, 2023, at the age of 93 years young. She was born on January 25, 1929, to Gustave and Emma Brining. Marjorie is survived by many today. Starting with her sister Annette Hilton, brother Ronald (Joan) Brining, and sister-in law Elizabeth Brining. Next, her children; Daniel (Debbie) Ensign, Harry (Lisa) Ensign, and Susan Rhodus. Next, her grandchildren; Eric (Keeley) Ensign, Jacob (Jennifer) Ensign, Tracey Ensign, Sara (Richard) Bayless, Ben Ensign, Trey (Marti) Ensign, Jason (Kasey) Ensign, and Eleven Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-children; Brenda (Jay) Welch, Wanda (Bob) Marchant, Rick (Sally) Somes, and Debra (David) Harwood. Next, her nine grandchildren; Wendy (Kevin) Ball, Jason (Maryanne) Welch, Marci (Larry) Hatfield, Joey Marchant, Kristi (Dan) Semeniuk, Ree Somes, Rachel (Jeff) Morency, Courtney (Dan) Winberg, Kira (Morgan) Mudge, and two step-grandchildren. Lastly by her 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Gilmore Somes, brother Douglas Ensign, sister Dorothy Weston, and step-son Ronald Ree Somes. Marjorie was a kind-hearted, beautiful, sassy soul. Her love shined through to her family, friends, and anyone she met along the way. She always had a story to tell from her younger years. She never turned down a game of cards, always willing to make a bet. Marjorie was never hesitant to give a hug and kind word to anyone she talked to. She was always the first to play a joke and take full credit any chance she could. She was able to put a smile on your face and bring out a laugh every time you talked to her. She always made sure her presence was felt through a touch of her cold hands on your back or a red lipstick stain on your cheek. She was a backbone in creating the family you see above. The family hopes to carry even part of the legacy that this woman was. She will always be loved by not only her friends and family but the community that she had a big impact in. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at First Church of Christ. Visitation hours are from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. In Lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the Hospice House of EUP or First Church of Christ.
