Carole Jeanne Hague

Carole Jeanne Hague, 61 of Boyne City passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon on the Sand Dune Cross Country Trail Syatem near St.Ignace after suffering a broken leg. She was born May 3,1949 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln,Neb. Carole graduated from LaSalle High School in St.Ignace and Albion College with a Bachelors Degree and a Masters from Western Michigan University. She taught Elementary Education for 32 years in Boyne City.She was very active in the Boyne City community and schools;,a longtime member of the 1st Presbyterian Church ; a member of the Boyne City Library Board and active with the library;Down Hill Ski Team at Boyne Mtn. and also had worked for Boyne at one time; after school program at East Jordan since retirement from Boyne City; Hot Air Ballooning in New Mexico; owned the Woodsong Soap Company which she recently purchased. She loved kayaking on the Boyne River; hiking in the UP; skiing; and traveled extensively, to Europe several times and summered in France 3 times to further her education. She has worked for Chico\'s in Petoskey several years since leaving teaching, and enjoyed the people she meets. Carole was a very outgoing, personable gal, and very helpful to others.She was loved by her students, and taught second and third generations in Boyne City. She is survived by her parents, Dr. Howard and Jeanne Hague,St.Ignace & Zepherhills, Florida; 2 brothers, David & Jennifer Hague, East Jordan; Robert Hague, Flint; 2 sisters, Kathy and the late Byrar Bartlett, Flint; Barbara & Robert Duckett, Seaford, VA.;sister in law; Susan Hague, East Jordan; special friend Sean Ryan, Petoskey; nephew, Dan & Christie Lewis and their family, Stephanie, Kimberly, Ryan & Sara ; niece, Tammy & Pat Russell; and family, Cody & Melissa; nephews, Charlie, Matthew, & Harry; special aunt, Charlotte Bland of Phoenix, Arizona; special cousins, Julie Warner and Bruce Warner.Aunt, Helen Warner, and the late Uncle Jack Warner; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Bland; Carla Bland;Catherine Bailey;Keith Bland, and uncle, Forrest Bland of Prarie Village, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, March 23 at Dodson Funeral Home in St.Ignace from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church.with Pastor Erik Alsgaard officiating. A funeral service will be also be held in Boyne City on Friday, March 25 at 2 pm at St.Matthews Catholic Church with Pastor David Behling officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm at the church Memorial may be directed to the Boyne City Library or the Challenge Mountain in memory of Carole J. Hague, with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home who assisted the family with arrangements..
