Norma Zoe Wojnaroski

Norma Zoe (Lawrence) Wojnaroski, 93, passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan, on October 7, 2018, twenty years to the day after the passing of her beloved husband of fifty- seven years, Louis. Norma was born on March 6, 1925, at home in Linwood, Michigan, to Frank and Leona (Budreau) Lawrence. Norma’s fondest childhood memories were playing dolls with her sister Joan and making doll houses with windows and doors out of cardboard and cradles out of old salt or match boxes. Growing up in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Norma remembers going downtown on Saturday’s with her sister for lunch where they could buy a pop and a hamburger for just .25 cents and have enough left over for a treat. On June 14, 1941, she married the love of her life, Louis Marion Wojnaroski, in Defiance, Ohio. They lived in East Dearborn, Michigan, where Louis worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1953, they moved to the Upper Peninsula settling in Raber, Michigan. Norma and Louis enjoyed a second home on Lime Island, Michigan, where Louis worked for Consolidated Coal Company as Captain of the Lime Island Tug where Norma often road along and handled the lines. Norma and Louis would spend countless hours grooming their gardens, both on the mainland and the island for harvest year after year. Norma kept a spotless home and was an excellent cook. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her Christmas rock candy and special cookies were always abundant. Norma was talented at needlework and gifted at loom work. Sharing her love of crafting with her grandchildren by teaching them how to knit, crochet, and cross stitch. Norma had a special place in her heart for Collies and had several over the years, all named “Champ”. Most recently, Norma loved and cared for her cat, Tender, who was her loving animal companion for the past several years. Norma was a friend to many, caring to all, and enjoyed her freedom and continued to drive through her late eighties. Norma loved jigsaw puzzles, sneaking treats, and getting good food! The family is being assisted by R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan. Graveside services will be held at North Raber Cemetery on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 10:00 A.M.
