Rose Emeline Griffin

Rose Emeline Griffin, age 83, of Cedarville, Michigan, died January 11, 2019, at home. She was born November 4, 1935, in Cedarville, to Claude and Melissa (Izzard) Haynes. Rose grew up in Cedarville attending Cedarville schools. At the age of 12 years old, after school she worked for Smith’s Restaurant. As an adult, she worked at the Bon Aire and Lil’s Snack Bar in Cedarville. On September 24, 1966, Rose married Jerry F. Griffin and they continued to make their home in Cedarville. They operated Griffin’s Garage. They loved to fish together and often put a “Gone Fishing” sign on the door and went fishing. They retired in the 1980’s. In retirement, they loved to fish, hunt, and travel. They wintered on South Padre Island in Texas for many years. Jerry died on February 19, 2004. Rose loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to feed the deer, birds, and anyone who walked in her door. Rose was a member of the Clark Township Ambulance Corp and also served as its Secretary/Treasurer. She was a member of the Law White VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. After her husband’s stroke, she cared for him at home and in 2001, she received the Marquette General Home Health & Hospice caregiver award. Rose is survived by her daughter, Rose Anna Jones of Goetzville; step children, John (Jeri) Griffin of Cedarville, Jean (David) Allmond of Maybe, Michigan, Jerry Morris (Hazel) Griffin of Yuma, Arizona, Sally (Clinton) Van Sickle of Bay City, Michigan, and Judith (Dwight) Van Sickle of Negaunee, Michigan; grandchildren, Donald Crawford, Jeremy (Jean) Crawford, Joseph Smith, Melissa Smith, Rose (Josh Lounds) Smith, and Jonathan Kott; great grandchildren, Donna (Robert St. Onge) Adams, Tessa, Samantha, Chris, Heidi, Eathan, Eby, Reid, Jerry, and Maddy Crawford, Cory Smith, Dakota Kott, Cheyene (Brenton) Holmberg, Charles Schuetter, and Michelle Smith; one great great grandchild, Grayson Michael Holmberg; step grandchildren, Brenda DeRosha, David (Kris) Griffin, Steven (Gabarella) Allmond, Julia (Shane) Murry, Tonya (Roger) Rice, Tamera (Rob) Klaty, Traci (Heath) Tappe, Jeremy (Kathleen) Griffin, Josh (Andresa) Griffin, and Jason (Pauline) Griffin; and step great grandchildren, Arianne, Zachary, Julianna, Nubia, Nate, Steven, Ashley, Sean, Jay Don, Jonathan, Karenia, Johannes, Lena, Korbin, Chase Skyler, Cruiz, Carmen, Spence, Calahan, Canyon, Denali, Everest, Hudson, Blaze, Aenow, and Flint. Rose will also be missed by her special friend, Bill Huffman and his family; and also her faithful companions, Molly, Miss Kitty, and Babe the deer. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Griffin; infant children, Lawrence Richard Weston and Michelle Marie Weston; and brother, William Haynes Sr. Services will be held Thursday, January 17, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129, in Pickford, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Glenn Shaw conducting the service. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville in the spring.
