Sandra Jean Hoffman

Sandra, "Sandy" Jean Hoffman, age 69, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Monday Afternoon, January 1, 2018 at the Hospice of the EUP- Hospice House, ending her battle with Alzheimer's Disease and Leukemia.Sandra was born on August 4, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Annabelle (Calfee) Gibbs. She graduated from Redford High School and later attended college. On June 11, 1978, she married her soulmate, James Hoffman in Farmington, MichiganSandy was a strong, feisty, high-spirited woman who lived life unapologetically, on her own terms. She led several careers in her life, which included selling real estate and owning La Galerie Gifts & Antiques for five years. She and her husband were also successful business partners and owned Northpointe Imaging, a photography studio located downtown Sault Ste. Marie for over thirty years. Sandy enjoyed camping and traveling to new places but always believed in arriving fashionably late. She loved food, but was not fond of cooking. She said she had found the love of her life in her husband James, but adored their dog, Gigi-a-Bite so much, her own family had begun to question who was actually her favorite. Sandy loved "starting" projects, collecting scrapbooking supplies and random antiques. Sandy oft reminisced about the adventures she had in her first car, a yellow 1966 Mustang convertible. At home, she could be found singing opera, hymns or her favorite broadway hit. She felt strongly about most subjects and was known for sharing her unsolicited wisdom with others, and always preferred drinking her Pepsi from a glass bottle. She held several memberships throughout her life, including a bowling league, Christian Women's Club, the Sault Downtown Business Association and held membership at Calvary Baptist ChurchSandra is survived by five children: Sean Silagy and Jasin Stone both of Garden City, MI, Jodie Heikkinen and Megan (Zach) Norman both of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Jamie (Megan) Hoffman of Ann Arbor, MI; and 11 grandchildren: Kirsi, Kinzie, Sean, Jesse, Justin, Noah, Sierra, Amanda, Megan, Zoey and Harper. She is also survived by a brother, Nicholas Gibbs.A memorial service will be held later this spring. Memorials may be left to the Hospice of the EUP.
