Sandra G. Izzard

Sandra Gayle Izzard, age 69, of Cedarville, Michigan, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan, with her family at her side. She was born April 30, 1945 in Stalwart, Michigan, to Samie Warren and Anna (Marowski) Stevenson. Sandi grew up in Stalwart where she attended a small one room school house for the young grades and then completed grade school at Raber Township Schools. She attended high school in Pickford where she graduated with the Class of 1963. Sandi married Daniel George Izzard on August 8, 1964 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville, Michigan. Sandi worked for Michigan Bell, the Hessel Bakery, and then for the past 17 years she has worked with her sister Charlene preparing dinners provided for seniors by Community Action. Sandi was active at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel and the Trojan Sports Booster Club. Most of all, Sandi loved participating in the lives of her grandchildren. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed flower gardening and watching Cedarville school sports and Tiger baseball. Sandi is survived by her husband, Dan; daughters, Jill (Jeff) McLeod and Julie (Perry) Smith, both of Cedarville; son, Jeff (Shelley) Izzard of Cadillac, Michigan; and grandchildren, Morgan and Shane McLeod, Tyler and Tara Smith, Amelia Gustafson, and Zakk Izzard. Also surviving are her sisters, Rosemary (Alice Goll) Stevenson of Nunica, Michigan, Anita (Conrad) Izzard of Cedarville, John “Andy” (Connie) Stevenson of Stalwart, Charlene (Robert) Williams of Cedarville, and Wayne (Sue) Stevenson of Midland, Michigan. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Virginia Stevenson. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford. A prayer service will begin at 8:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 21, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel with Father Janusz Romanek celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville. Memorial contributions may be made to Les Cheneaux Ambulance Auxiliary, P.O. Box 453, Hessel, MI 49745.
