Stacy Burley

Stacy Burley, age 59, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on August 15, 2019. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and granny, but she would often tell people her greatest accomplishment was being a mother who raised her two daughters to do better than she did. Stacy was in her happy place when she was painting, making all kinds of crafts, and collecting trinkets for those she loved or even those she just met. She was always listening to the little things you said, would frequently make or find quirky gifts, full of color, and deliver them just to make your day or create a smile. Her sensitivity and genuine concern for others was unrivaled. She had a unique ability to anticipate people's needs, and be that friend who knew just how to cheer you up. However, Stacy wasn't just a girly-girl, she also enjoyed getting her hands dirty while hunting, fishing, and riding her motorcycle; even though she still incorporated as much pink as possible into her accessories. She was born on February 5, 1960 in Pontiac, Michigan and spent most of her childhood and early adult years near Milford, where she attended West Highland Christian Academy. In 1994, Stacy moved to Petoskey to spend time with her "Daddy" and best friend, Charles Parks Sr. during his final years. She found happiness again in Northern Michigan when she married William "Bill" Burley but was eventually widowed in 2009. True to her unstoppable spirit, Stacy forged on, and found her infectious smile yet again with her current partner, Curt Grubaugh. Although her life was cut short, our hearts can be eased knowing she was excitedly planning her latest chapter with Curt chasing sunrays in Arizona. She will be greatly missed by her partner Gordon "Curt" Grubaugh, mother Dixie (Hazen) Parks, daughters Jennifer "Nikki" (Harry) Hibbler III, Marylynne (Patrick) Burch, granddaughters Alexis "Allie" Knapp and Emily Hibbler, partner's daughters Krysta and Courtney Grubaugh, partner's grandchildren Ella Grubaugh and Emerson Drum, brother Chuck (Marie) Parks Jr., sisters Jacqueline Brandel and Dixie Ann (Dan) Bickes, nephews Cody Parks, Charlie Parks III, Zachary (Michelle) Brandel, Luke Brandel, Jake Brandel, Travis (Ashley) Bickes, nieces Loriel Grisby, Kortney Harris, Alicia Nock and Danielle Bickes, and many more extended family and friends. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Bob's Place 7515 US-31, Alanson, Michigan 49506. To honor Stacy's "come as you are" personality, there will be no eulogies or speeches, dress brightly and comfortably, and we can casually share stories to continue her memory. In lieu of flowers, there will be envelopes provided where you can make a donation or share your favorite anecdote with the family.
