Yvonne J. O\'Rourke

Yvonne J. O\'Rourke 89 of St.Ignace passed away early Tuesday morning, January 15 at Evergreen Living Center . She was born July 31,1923 , one of 8 chldren born to Alfred and Rose (Sharboneau) Goudreau. She attended the Ursuline Academy through the 10th grade and graduated from LaSalle High School, and also graduated with a degree in Nursing, from Nazareth College in kalamazoo; and was a Registered Nurse.She was one of the first hires at Mackinac Straits Hospital when it opened in 1954. She also worked for Dr. Shafloe as his nurse, specializing in home deliveries of babies. She was a devout Christian; , attending Mass daily for many years.at St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church; ; and a member of St. Anns Altar Society. She married Clyde R. O\'Rourke on July 7,1945 at St.Ignatius Church and he died November 5,2012 just 3 days after his 93rd birthday. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage, and was a very devoted mother to their large family.She was always a fine lady, and taught her children the same. always addressing people by Mr. or Mrs., never by first names.She was an Elder with the Sault Tribe Chippewa Indians, and proud of her heritage. Surviving are her children; Kathleen and Eugene Sweeney, Northport,Florida; Dan and Carol O\'Rourke, Green Bay;WI.; Fred and Jeanette O\'Rourke, St.Ignace; Thomas "Clem" and Lynn O\'Rourke, Fowler,Michigan; Timothy and Barbara O\'Rourke, Dyer, Indiana; William "Bill" and Karen O\'Rourke, Bellvue,MI; Rose and Eban Mackey, Marshall,MI; and Clyde Jr. and Beth O\'Rourke, St.Ignace; over 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death besides her husband, her 7 siblings; Vincent Goudreau; Leonard Goudreau; Father Bill Goudfreau, a Priest in India over 60 years; Alfred Stephen Goudreau;; Clarice Sirmeyer; Lucille Mosack; and Laura Herman. Friends may call at Dodson Funeral Home in St.Ignace on Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Parish prayers will be at 8 pm with Fr. Pawel Mecwel and Brother Ji, Boynton officiating. Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, January 19 at 11 am at St.Ignatius Churchwith Fr. Pawel, Brother Jim Boynton and Fr. Jim Williams officiating. with lunch served after by St.Anns Altar Society. Burial will be in the spring in St.Ignatius Cemetery beside her husband.Memorials may be directed to Jesuits or intentions of the family with envelopes available at the funeral home.Pallbearers were Ericka Rhinehart; Megan Mackey; Kelly Jung; Angie Gillmore; Macaela O\'Rourke; Molly Page; Steve O\'Rourke; Aaron Sweeney;Patrick O\'Rourke; Ken Gillmore; John LaChapelle; and Tony Frazier.
