Terrance E. Deuman

Terrance E. Deuman, 67, of Brimley, Michigan began his journey to the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on October 8, 2012. Terry was born on August 23, 1945 as the first of eight children to Eugene and Irene (Piche) Deuman at War Memorial Hospital. He proudly served in the United States Navy on board the Destroyer, the U.S.S. Keppler and was Honorably Discharged in 1971. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brimley Post 9023, and also a member of the American Legion Post # 3 of Sault Ste. Marie. Shortly after his return to Brimley, Terry met the love of his life Gwen Carrick and they were married 7 months later in January 1972. Together, they had four children, Shelly (Richard) LeBlanc of Bay Mills, Sheila (Matt) Wiser of Raco, Terry Jr. and Nick. After 30 years of service, Terry retired as a foreman with the Chippewa County Road Commission and returned to his greatest passions, family, carpentry, boating, NASCAR and Ford Trucks. Terry leaves behind his close and cherished family, Mike (Pat) Deuman of Sault Ste. Marie, Shirley (Fred) Ulven of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Glen (Chris) Deuman, Mary, (Keith) Swendsen of Brimley. Including Sister-in-Laws, Gayle and Cindy Deuman and Brother-In-Law, Mike Brown. Grandchildren, Brighton, Kaytlyn, Kourtney, Sagia, Wasaya, Ashley (Cole) Jordan, Terry III, Tressa and Heaven, with one great-grandchild, Elijah. In addition to his very dear and special Aunt Katheryn, Terry leaves behind many Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews of the Deuman, Piche and Carrick families. In retirement, Terry relished the time he had with special friends, including the boys of his "Coffee Crew" with whom many laughs and good times were shared. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Eugene "Red" and Irene Deuman, siblings, David Deuman, Sheila Brown and Steve Deuman. Terry also reunites with his precious son, Terry Jr. who died in 1988 at the age of 14. The Deuman family would like to thank the many volunteers, service workers, including those of the community who donated their time and support. A special thanks goes to the staff of War Memorial Hospital, Dr. Johnson and nursing staff of McClaren Northern Michigan Hospitals, Dr. Smith and staff of the Oncology Department of Mackinaw Straits and Hospice of Chippewa County. Visitation will be held 11:00am until 2:00pm Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00pm Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church with Deacon Aimie LaPlaunt and Deacon Bill Piche officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Hospice of the EUP would be appreciated. Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
