Theodore Robert Hriniak

Theodore Robert Hriniak, age 81, of Cedarville, Michigan, died on October 19, 2017, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on November 11, 1935, in Sudbury, Massachusetts, to Michael N. and Marion (Ward) Hriniak. Ted grew up in Sudbury. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for eight years, first in Germany and then at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan. After his service, he stayed in the area and worked at Michigan Limestone in Cedarville. He married Barbara Erickson Gough on November 11, 1974. They made their home in Florida where he worked construction eventually returning to Cedarville where he continued to work construction jobs until retiring in 2010. Ted was a member of the Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club and the Law-White VFW Post #7958 in Hessel. Ted liked reading western novels, going to the casino, boating, and traveling. He enjoyed taking long rides on his snowmobile, which, for many years, could only be a Polaris until he was eventually convinced to convert to Artic Cat. He attended many sporting events in which his grandchildren participated and he loved holiday gatherings with family. Ted is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hriniak; daughters, Diana (Dale) Peterson of Hessel, Michigan, Linda Santjer of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and Lori Johnson of Sanger, Texas; stepdaughter, Sandra (Perry) Causley of Lansing, Michigan; stepson, Dale (Jodi) Gough of Pickford, Michigan; stepson-in-law, Steve Hancock of Pickford; grandchildren, Brian Moss, Jessica (Jason) Kiefer, Laura Jeffreys, Amber (Kenjl) Scouton, Tyler Santjer, Logan Santjer, Billy Callaghan, and Erica (Devin) Orear.; step grandchildren, Veronica Gough, Kristi Gough, Burton (Allison) Gough, Thomas Causley, Bradley (Monique) Causley, Tonya (Layne) Ingram, and Charlie Hancock; great grandchildren, Alyssa McCord, Kayden Kiefer, Kaleb Kiefer, Rylee Seabrook, Aiden Jeffreys, Adelynn Jeffreys, Aidrick Jeffreys, Aiken Jeffreys, Asher Jeffreys, Koji Scouton, Asher Scouton, Piper Santjer, Hadley Callaghan, Hayden Callaghan, Dylan Orear, and Keilah Orear; step great grandchildren, Bradley Causley Jr., Elysia Causley, Cassandra Causley, Avery Vandermeer, and Kayla Vandermeer; great step grandson, Carter Causley. Ted is also survived by his sister, Arlette Clark of Sudbury. Ted was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Laurie Hancock. Services will be held Friday, November 3, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129, in Pickford, Michigan. Gathering time will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan, at a later date.
