Wanda Thompson

Wanda Elain Leach Thompson, born February 6, 1939, passed away on May 16, 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Rodney), and son, Timothy(Janice). Wanda is also survived by her grandchildren who were the loves of her life Richard (Lourdes), Corey(Jackie), Molly(Drew), Nathyn(Casey), Ryan(Serena), Brandon(Svetlana), and Jada. She was a great grandmother to nine children. Wanda was a devoted wife to C. Austin Thompson, who preceded her in death on November 24, 2020. Their marriage of 62 years, and their lives are celebrated by immediate and extended family members. Guests are invited to attend the committal of both Austin and Wanda Thompson planned at the Oakland Chapel Gardens at ten a.m. on June 18, 2021. Wanda's favorite color was yellow. Truly she was a warm, radiant sunlight to everyone she encountered, even when just in passing. Though her family was her top priority, Wanda worked for many years at an area nursing home, then known as Provincial House, preparing meals for the elderly. However, the absolute passion of her life was her husband, children, and grandchildren. They were her breath of fresh air and the very beating of her heart. Her love also included her extended family. The tender, pure heart and generosity of Wanda have been clearly demonstrated by multiple acts of kindness. Preparing meals for those in need, sitting for hours with family members who were ill, and always thoughtful to send cards to people in need were typical behaviors. Wanda did enjoy doing crafts, motorcycle riding, and she particularly loved flowers. Wanda was an excellent cook and could, even unexpectedly, feed a group of people with ease. It always included dessert and treats for the children. During the annual I-500 snowmobile race, the whole family flocked to Wanda's house, using it for a home base as it was within walking distance to the race. This was an entire day, if not longer. The chili she made was fabulous! Rest in peace, our dearest wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law. Certainly, you have earned the right and privilege to live eternally in heaven with your husband and family. You will be missed but never forgotten.
