Wayne Matthew Lehman

Wayne Matthew Lehman, age 91, of Hessel, Michigan, formerly of Stockbridge and Jackson, Michigan, died June 28, 2019, at home. He was born October 19, 1927, in Waterloo Township, Jackson County, Michigan, to Paul Matthew and Eva Mae (Hoffman) Lehman. Wayne lived most of his life in Stockbridge. He married Rojean Annette Broesamle on August 20, 1949. He was a third generation farmer who worked with his father on the family farm. When his father died young, only in his 50’s, Wayne took over operating the farm. Wayne’s son Paul (4th Generation) worked with him on the farm until Wayne retired in 2006. Wayne had visited Hessel for many years and moved there to live with his daughter last year. Wayne was a lifelong member of the St. Jacob Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waterloo, where he was baptized, confirmed, married, and will be buried. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living member of the church. Wayne enjoyed playing Euchre and his entire family played often in various places near Jackson. While in Hessel, he participated weekly in the Euchre games at the Moose Lodge in St. Ignace. He was also a Detroit Tiger fan who rarely missed a game on television. Wayne is survived by his son, Paul (Karen) Lehman of Chelsea, Michigan; daughter, Susan Deaner of Hessel; grandchildren, Tracy (Shawn) Warren, Stacy (Matt) Wright, Wendy Jo (Jason) Garrison, Brandon (Heather) Miller, stacy (Mark) Churey, and Kelly Hensley; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Edward (Suzi) Broesamle of Chicago, Illinois, and Corwin Broesamle of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Rojean; grandson, Leslie Wayne Hensley; son-in-law, Mark Deaner; brother and sisters, Elmer (Aletha) Lehman, Vera (Louis) Schumacher, Irene (Ray) Marz, Doris (Ralph) Marz, and infant, Dora Mae Lehman. A Memorial Service will be held August 17, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Jacob Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Interment will be in St. Jacob Cemetery next to the church. R.
