Margaret E. LeCount

Margaret Evaline LeCount, 84 of St.Ignace passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 1 at 11:25 pm at her apartment surrounded by her family. She was born in St.Ignace September 13,1926 to Joseph Edward (Ward) and Maida Rosiland (Ivers) Quinn. She was raised at 150 Church Street and attended Ursuline Academy through the 10th grade and was sent toSt. Mary\'s Academy in Monroe,MI to complete her high school education. She was a member of St.Ignatius loyola Catholic Church and St.Ann\'s Altar Society. Margaret met Robert William LeCount when she was in the 9th grade. Their relationship flourished through school years,WWll and college. On October 1,1947 they married in the Old Mission Church due to a fire at St,Ignatius Church. Bob died December 8,1969 leaving her with 9 wonderful children to raise. Surviving Margaret are Rhea Marise (Ted) Mattis, Traverse City;Robert Edward LeCount, Santa Barbara, CA; Denise Josephine (Glen) THomas, Saginaw; Marc Norton (Karen) LeCount, Moran; Ned James LeCount, St.Ignace; Joc William (Allison) LeCount, Santa Barbara, CA; Margaret "Maggie: (Andrew) Stratton, Cornelius, Oregon; Andrew Clark(Tina) LeCount, Spottsylvania,VA; Jane Chentelle (Jeff Newson) LeCount, Driggs,ID; 11 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 7 great grandsons and a great granddaughter expected in July;also 2 sisters, Mary Jane St.Louis, St.Ignace, and Josephine "Joie" (Bernard) Lennon, Goleta,CA; sister in law, Sharon (Terry) Smith, St.Ignace and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was preceeded in death by a son in law, Robert Burkey, and her in laws, Elta & James Erskine, and Eshter & Clarence Langstaff. In her working career she was a Ward Clerk at Saginaw General Hospital. When she moved her family back to St.Ignace after her husband died, she worked at the Variety Store, the information booth at the Arnold Line Dock, Secretary/Receptionist at T & T Electronics; manager & Desk Clerk of the Travelers Hotel, and ticket booth for Star Line. She loved to read and knit blankets for grandchildren and great grandchildren. She traveled extensively visiting her children from the East coast to the West coast. Margaret had an artistic nature. She loved theater and was a member of the Bay City Players and the St.Ignace Playcrafters where she performed in many plays. She wrote short stories for magazines and a few independent pieces for the St.Ignace news. She compiled personal memory books, sports albums and family biographies. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, July 5 at 11 am at St,Ignatius Church with Fr. Pawel Mecwel officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time at the church. Interment will be in St.Ignatius Cemetery beside her husband. Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
