Casey Daniel Lyons

Casey Daniel Lyons, age 42, of Brimley, Michigan, tragically left this world on November 28, 2023. He was born in Charlevoix, Michigan, on August 14, 1981, to parents Francis "Shon" Lyons and Carol Dunson. Casey was a proud member of the Bay Mills Indian Community. Casey grew up in East Jordan, Michigan. Soon after high school, he embarked on a diverse career primarily within the Bay Mills Indian Community, progressing from various roles in the Maintenance Department to ultimately becoming the Project Manager for Bay Mills Public Works. During this time, fate smiled upon him, and in 2008, he encountered his soul mate, Rachel Burtt, while working for the same company. Thirteen years of shared adventures and the blessing of two beautiful children later, they formalized their union on September 18, 2021. Casey's zest for life was evident in his love for hunting, camping, golfing, and engaging in friendly battles of Modern Warfare with his buddies. An avid animal lover, he took pride in his packs of dogs throughout his life. Casey was a goofball to his core and exuded a natural comedic flair that brightened the days of everyone he encountered. Whether through his infectious humor or the camaraderie shared with his brothers, Casey had a remarkable ability to leave a lasting smile on the faces of those around him. His deepest love, however, resided in his family. The bond between Casey and Rachel was a testament to unwavering love; they were the epitome of a true partnership. Equally cherished were his two adoring children, Quentin and Neva, whom he embraced with a fatherly devotion that defined him. As "Uncle Dad," he also played a pivotal role in the lives of his beloved nieces and nephew. Casey is survived by his cherished wife, Rachel Lyons; children, Quentin and Neva Lyons of Brimley; mother, Carol Dunson of East Jordan; brother/second set of parents, Shawn (Marcella) Lyons of Bay Mills; brothers Scott (Melissa) and Craig (Melissa) Lyons of East Jordan; brothers-in-law, Eric (Lisa) Burtt of Traverse City and Robert Burtt of Bay Mills; nieces and nephews, Valencia "Valley Girl," Hannah "Buggy,", Tristen "T-Bob," Scott, Harper, and Piper Lyons, and Evi, Andrew, and Matthew Burtt, in addition to many that he loved as his nieces and nephews; best friend, Danny Baker; and numerous other cousins and extended friends and family members that he would do anything for. He is preceded in death by his father, Francis Lyons; grandparents, Francis and Donna Lyons, and William and Neva Dunson; father-in-law Barry Burtt; mother-in-law Lorri Burtt, along with several aunts and uncles. As a tribal citizen, he wanted a traditional burial. A sacred fire was started to guide his journey on November 29th. Pipe Ceremonies will begin Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Armella Parker Building in Bay Mills Indian Community at 6:00 pm. This will be followed by Traditional Services on December 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Family, friends, and community members are welcome at this celebration of life for this amazing man. His final resting place will be at Mission Hill Cemetery, following the traditional ceremony. The Lyons family is eternally grateful for the amazing community that has come together to support them during this unbearable time.
