Marie, Michigan Hobbies/Interests/Memberships: He worked as a housekeeping supervisor at Tendercare Nursing Home for many years. Charles loved to hunt, fish, listen to music and watching movies. He especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for having a big booming voice but a gentle, caring heart. He was an Elder member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians and a proud member of the United States Marine Corps having been stationed in Quantico, Virginia where he received many commendations for being a sharpshooter. SURVIVED BY: Wife: the former Sandra Willis on August 19, 2000. Son: C.B. Kempf of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Daughter: Diane Kempf of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Gary Kempf of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Joe Hoffman of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Robert (Mary) Hoffman of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Audrey Truckey of Menden, MI. Grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew Malpass) Kempf; Tadd Hill; Cassandra Dias; Clay Wilton; Paige Wilton; Grant Wilton; Emily Wilton; Madison Wilton; Kyle Wilton. Great Granddaughter Hayden McLean. Also survived by many nieces and nephews including a Special nephew Walter Struckmann, Jr. PREDECEASED BY: Parents- Herman and Arbutus Biron Kempf; Brothers- George, Dutch, Bernard and John. Sisters- Catherine Struckmann and Sheila Woolf: His Beloved Dog Cricket Ann. Visitation: 10:00am until 11:45am Saturday February 1, 2014 at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Mass of Christian Burial: 12 Noon Saturday February 1, 2014 at St. Mary’s ProCathedral Church with Father Sebastian Kavumkal as Celebrant. Final Resting Place: Riverside Cemetery A reception will following the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Niigaanagiizhik Building at 11 Ice Circle Dr. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
