Don R. Harris

Don R. (Bob) Harris of Brimley, Michigan passed away December 4, 2014 at War Memorial Hospital. Bob was born to I.G. (Tommy) and Hattie G. (James)Harris in Seymour Indiana on June 1, 1930. He graduated from high school in 1948 and joined the US Navy with 12 other buddies from his hometown. During this time he met and married "the light of his blue eyes" Patricia Ann Otte on December 23, 1950. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Immanuel Ev Lutheran Church. He served on both the school and church board. He loved music and sang in the church choir praising his Heavenly Father. Bob was a lover of people, and found being a salesman gave him the opportunity to meet all kinds of people. He was a clothing salesman's, a Jewel tea man, and insurance salesman an auto parts sales clerk, and after retirement worked for McDonald's and Bay Mart Convenience Store in Brimley. Bob and Pat have three children: Mary (Dave) Mills of Pickford, JoEllen (Randy) Pesola of Brimley and Tom (Kim) Harris of Sault Ste. Marie; They have nine grandchildren: Liz (Jim) Brigham, Ali (Austin) Crawford, Robin (Scott) Sorquist, Tracy (PJ) Jones, Kelly Pesola, Kenny Pesola, Don (Tiffany) Anderson, Kelsie Harris and Seth Harris; They are also blessed with 13 great grandchildren: Kora, Reece, Cooper, and Lena Jones, Mia Pesola, Elsie and Noah Brigham, Logan and Lincoln Crawford, Josephine, Henry and Walter Sorquist and Norah Anderson. Bob was preceded by his mother, father, and sisters Rachel, Betty and Harriett and a great grandson Joshua Sorquist. Pallbearers are Ken Pesola, Seth Harris, PJ Jones, Randy Pesola, Dave Mills and Jim Brigham. A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on December 7, 2014 at Immanuel Ev Lutheran Church in Sault Ste. Marie with Reverend Jeff Grundmeier officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to First Congregational Church Brimley Release Time Program, Child Evangelism Fellowship or Little Lambs Preschool of Immanuel EV Lutheran Church.
