Eva Jane Stork

Eva Jane Stork completed a long journey and slipped peacefully from this earth to be welcomed home by her Lord and family on March 27, 2013. Born and raised in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, Eva lived most of her adult life in Sierra Madre, California, but eventually returned to her place of birth. This is where, surrounded by the comfort and love of her family, her life of this earth drew to a close. Eva was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) Stork and son, Richard Stork. She was the daughter of the late Sarah and Alfred Cook and sister of Virginia Malette and the late Clayton Cook. Eva was the very special aunt of Sandra Wallenius and Robert Cook and Great-Aunt to Dr. Samantha Wallenius and Lara Cook. She leaves behind several dear friends in California, especially Tom Curtiss, Jr., Esq. We are particularly grateful for the kind, compassionate and skillful care of Dr. Thalik Chander and the staff at War Memorial Hospital. Special thanks and much appreciation is extended to the dedicated staff at Freighter View Assisted Living facility, particularly those who cared for Eva over the last seven years, including several of the "original" staff, Cindy, Rachel, Wanita and Debby. Freighter View became Eva's home, and she was always treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Gone from my sight- Henry Van Dyke I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone" Gone where? Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me - not in her. And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that is dying... Cremation has taken place, with arrangements entrusted to C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. At Eva's request, a Funeral service will not be conducted. A private memorial ceremony will be held in California. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the EUP.
