Evelyn Marie Peterson

Evelyn Marie Peterson, age 92 of Sault Ste Marie passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022. Surrounded by her entire family. Evelyn was born on November 30,1929 in Iron Mountain Michigan to the late Phillip and Elsie (Hallgren) Rahoi. She graduated in 1948 from Iron Mountain Senior High School. Evelyn worked at a couple local restaurants in the Sault and was always known as the "Singing Cook", She loved working with the young workers at Dog N Suds and The Galley Restaurant. She would always have fun with them and looked forward to every summer. She loved her home, yard and flowers, and up until June 2021 still lived there and mowed her grass twice a week. She was always outside weeding flowers and making her place look beautiful. She always said in the summer she needed some color and loved when she had a tan. She had the best neighbors that helped her and looked out for her when she lived alone on West Five Mile, She Loved having coffee with Mike Thibadeau after he snow blowed the driveway or trimmed around her mailbox. She was always making him cookies too. Terry and Diane King watched over and helped her also, as if she was their own. We will never be able to thank these three people enough for what they did for my mom. Evelyn loved her family! Her kids were her world and her grandchildren and great grandchildren just made life so fun for her. Although she worried night and day about each and every one of them and loved them all a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck. She loved singing to them and just letting everyone know how very loved they were by her. Christmas was her favorite Holiday by far, She would plan and prepare food right up to the day that everyone arrived. She had to have Santa Claus and a Sleigh ride every year for her kids. Evelyn is survived by a sister Phyllis Ewig of Iron Mountain, her children sons, Charles (Joan) Peterson of Traverse City, Michigan, Randy (Cindy) Peterson of Utterson, Ontario, and daughters Laura (Rod) Burnett, of Brunswick Georgia, Rene'e (Rod) Hutte of Sault Ste Marie, MI. Grandchildren, Jillian (Ryan) Raypold, Nicole (Nick) Andrews, Amanda (Henry)Bahrou, Erica Peterson, Chuckie (Derly) Leonard), James (Mandy) Peterson, Lindsey and Ashlee Andrews. Great Grandchildren, Adria and Alina Shook, Mikey, Tenley, Trenton and Bailey Sherlund. Mea and Liam Andrews and Eve Conrad, Charolotte & Alex Raypold, Hudson, Liv & Lyra Peterson. She adored them all! Also special Nieces Cynthia, Stephanie and Pam. Evelyn was proceeded in death by her Husband Charles Peterson Sr, her parents, brothers Billy, Urban and Leo. And sister in-laws Ruby, Vienna and Bev. Upon her wishes there will be no services. Her entire family was here and by her side the last two days of her life. I know she was smiling from ear to ear inside as she heard all the memories and laughter that was going on. She will be missed so much.
